The worst nightmare I’ve ever experienced in the tech industry. I had a simple problem, I needed my screen repaired. First I sent this company an email with a picture of my laptop up and running but with a crack in the screen...I never receive a reply.
I figured, well they are local, I’ll just bring it by the shop. The next day I went to the shop where Ronnie opened the laptop saw that everything was working and it just needed a new screen. He didn’t even ask for my power chord (which I thought was odd but laptop screens are usually a quick fix)
I didn’t hear a call back after several days so I decided to reach out. He expressed that the cable was too short for the new screen (which makes me think it was the wrong size) but said they would order a part and it would be no problem.
The following week they ask for my power chord to charge the battery since it had died while in their possession. I have my gf bring over the chord.
The following week I come to find out that my “motherboard is fried and that it looks like someone else has worked on my laptop prior to them having it”. I am obviously upset that now a simple screen repair is blowing up to be a much bigger issue and much more expensive than originally prescribed in the estimate.
Ronnie and I spoke over the phone where he reported that he would get me a brand new laptop with the same exact specs as my previous one. I even repeated it back to him “brand new laptop” which he confirmed.
I go in to the shop today 5/8 and speak with Ronnie face to face where he goes over and shows me how my “laptop has these damages and that his tools don’t strip screws” he doesn’t take any ownership of frying my motherboard and prints out a receipt for a laptop that he bought as a replacement.
Upon further review when I go home I notice that the specs aren’t the same. I call him and express my discontent. He acknowledges that it isn’t the exact same and says he will call me back after speaking with his colleague.
He sends me a text message with another laptop specs that are similar but again, not the exact same like he said he would provide. I call him out that it isn’t the same and he states that he will contact the owner to see if the specs meet the same.
This is my work laptop that I use every single day. I bought it brand new in October of last year and have not had a single issue with it. I don’t recommend anyone to seek services from this company and I will be reaching out to California consumer...
Read more-Guy's in shop do not greet you and either don't care or don't know what good customer is like. I greeted them was not greeted back. -Both of the people I spoke with appeared very bothered I was asking questions. I'm sorry but shedding a few hundred dollars isn't a walk in the park for you to have a negative attitude. -When I asked questions they replied back rudely with "you aren't the expert we are" kind of attitude." Yeah. That's why I'm in your shop.... You don't need to act this way. -I decided to give them a chance anyway, left my computer, but accidentally forgot my laptop charger. They told me they didn't have my charger type. Okay... I guess? -Snarky when talking about repair costs and me trying to find alternatives like bringing in my own parts. -I drove back to give them the charger they have a 6pm closing, they were closed when I got there at 5:10 pm, so I needed to drive back yet again. -When I arrived, I saw my laptop had another heavier laptop on top of it in the back....Why would you do that?... -I just started to have a bad feeling and didn't trust them to care about taking care of my problem. Because it was very obvious they didn't care. -Took my laptop and left. Went to a different computer shop El Cerrito: 3RTEK. FRIENDLY guy helped me and I got a little bit better cost and he had no problem answering my questions.
ADVICE: Have a nicer attitude towards new and existing customers....
