I have to give a negative review regarding my meal for today. Sunday 4th of July 2:00 p.m. I ordered the number 21 to go.
There was a lot of things wrong with this order.
First of all I want to say the positive things I love eating at this place however today was not the day.
The pinto beans was from the can and mozzarella cheese that is not good together.
The rice was really bland and all I could taste is the azafran no seasoning.
The steak was not fresh looks like Gandhi slippers
The fish looks like it was hitting the Sun for days after being cooked.
The shrimp was so shriveled and ran out of juice from the inside. Super dry shrimp.
I'm already convinced it's leftovers.
The only thing that was fresh was the salad dressing orange peel and three tortillas.
Please don't give leftovers. It's not nice to spend good money on leftovers.
I always pay good money here and the food is always good but not today.
I do recommend this place still if they do not serve leftovers.

I have stuck by this restaurant through 4 owners! Quality has always gone up and for 29 years now STILL IS HOME OF THE BEST SUPER BURRITO (&chip salsa)IN CALIFORNIA trust me because there isn’t a super burrito I HAVE NOT TRIED! No other compares! It slightly varies with time and prep BUT ALWAYS GOOD TO THE LAST BITE! The couple who owns this place and their family members and workers are super nice! But today I am IMPRESSED BEYOND WORDS!! I switched it up today and got breakfast burritos for my kids and I, at my sons request I went to “Mendez” I still call it but it’s PLAYITA MARISCOS! I SHAMEFULLY ADMIT THAT I have been scouting for the best CHORIZO burrito and REGRET NOT STARTING HERE I’ve wasted time and money because hands down this was the MOST AMAZING BURRITO I HAVE EVER EATEN IN MY LIFE! I don't really give out 1 star however this place deserved it. Tried to call in an order however no one picked up the phone so I drove down. Arrived and many of the waitresses and waiters gave me eye contact however no greeting or letting mw know someone will be with me. I waited at the register to order my Togo order and for 5 minutes the waitresses ans waiters ignored me while they processed the diners paid orders. One last finally acknowledged me and asked what I would like to order .. Placed my order then was told I needed to show my id or my order wouldn't be placed. So I walked to my car grabbed my I'd and brought it in to show her my card did belong to me. I did think back at the transactions that I seen in front of me where people paid with cards however I didnt see ids .With the card so I think I was indeed singled out. Ive never been asked for my id at restaurants so I did ask if every one has to show ID and she replied yes. Didn't buy it!
