Walmart Supercenter — Local services in Sandy Township

I hate walking into a Walmart, but my fiance wanted something (an Xbox controller for his steam deck) so I decided to come in and grab one. They're $53.99, pickup today at this store right on the app.

So I come in and all of the controllers are $64.

I grab an associate who comes over and scans the QR code on the tag. The tag must be wrong - because it pulls up a completely different controller SKU that only shows 3+ day shipping. So he pulls the controller from the case and scans it - $64. He has someone else scan it and yup, their stupid little devices show $64.

I show both of them that the same exact thing is on the app, at this store, for pickup today for $53.99.

"Well, we can't do anything unless our devices say we can."

I'm sorry, what? I can walk into basically any store and they will happily price match any big competitors, but at the largest retailer in the country I have to place an order online and wait for pickup notification FOR AN ITEM 3 INCHES IN FRONT OF ME -FOR THEIR OWN APP-??

Asked a manager if they could at least expedite THE SINGLE ITEM ORDER LITERALLY SITTING IN VIEW but NOPE! Can't do that either.

What an absolute joke. Walmart sucks and this store is...

I loved our old Walmart. The new store is way too big, and they move things around far too often just to make you walk all over the store, hoping you'll buy more on the way. If you need help while browsing, there is hardly anyone on the floor who can answer your question. Also, since the super center opened, I don't have much choice. We're in a rural area, and it's the only store where we can do "one stop shopping".

Update, 11/14/2024 The store isn't any better than my original review; in fact, it's gotten 100 times worse. They updated the layout of the store a few months ago, and the layout is ridiculous. They've got everything so spread out now that you have to walk all around the store to find anything. I did my grocery shopping yesterday. I was on the grocery side of the store and needed to get light bulbs, which are on the opposite side of the store and which are also at the back of the store. Upscale! Being from Florida and being used to rude or uncaring employees, the Dubious Walmart was a surprise! A cart. person greeted us in the parking. lot and politely let us know the stores closed soon. Once inside I was floored by the incredible displays and end caps. Really the type of thing you expect to see at upscale shopping experiences! I was also impressed by how friendly everyone was.
