My high school reunion is in 6 weeks.
Since my plan to drop 20 pounds before the big day didn't - and won't - come to pass, I opted for the next best thing.
If my body couldn't (even remotely) resemble the taunt Class of '96 version, at least my face could.
So, off to DermaCure!
I knew I had to work with Dr. Ingber and his staff because my BFF, whom will go unnamed (But she's a former model and VERY particular about her looks.) is 3 years older than me but looks 15 years younger. (And I'm not a she-beast. I usually get pegged for late 20s, early 30s; I'm 38 this year.).
Bestie gets "lasered" about once a year, which might seem like more than one "needs," but her skin is flawless (all sun spots, wrinkles, pores - GONE!) and smoother than a baby's butt. She's also done some injections, though she attributes most of her ageless face to the powerful laser awesomeness and REFUSES to go to anyone but Dr. Ingber at DermaCure. Anyone this anal about her looks is worthy to have their referral taken seriously!
I didn't have a weekend for "down time," which is necessary for the more intense lasers, so I went with the BFF's most current DermaCure obsession - the Vampire Facial.
Knowing that the "best" results would take a little while to come to fruition with this treatment, I scheduled it about 4 months ahead of my event.
The concept is pretty simple and I am VERY happy with the results. There was a fast, truly-painless blood draw to start (so they could get the plasma-rich platelets), then skin cleansing followed by the treatment. Basically, your own stem cells are driven deep into your skin via a "micro-needler." It doesn't hurt because the needles are so incredibly thin; I'd describe it as more of a "tingle."
From start to finish, the Vampire Facial took about an hour.
I had some very minor peeling around the nose and mouth a few days after, but nothing that a good run of the Clarisonic couldn't take care of. Other than that, there was nothing remarkable post-treatment, beyond looking rosy the day of and a little pink the day after. (I wore makeup on Day 2.).
I'd say that I started noticing a difference in about a week, but it was at about the 4-6 week mark that I started getting compliments on my skin from people whom see me pretty frequently. This isn't a facelift or even a hard-core laser treatment, so I wasn't expecting remarkable changes, but I am super happy with the changes I've noticed. Specifically: Light pink "scars" from adult-acne stress-induced breakout of 2015 - GONE Skin is much more bouncy and "shiny" - in a good way. I feel like I have my "glow" back. It's not oily, just has that youthful sheen that's been missing for a handful of years. Little lines that were forming around my mouth - totally gone Mild lines on my forehead not 100% gone (Probably need Botox for that.) but noticeably reduced Pores on my cheeks were getting bigger near my nose - they are smaller now Funny - the 28-year-old little chickenpox scar on my forehead, nearly gone
I would say that I "look" about 4-5 years younger, based on pictures from that time, but to me, even better than that is that I look HEALTHIER. I really do have a rosier glow and a healthier shine to my face that I envy in my teenager! PLUS I have had to rely A LOT less on makeup, which I think also makes me look younger. For the last year, a really expensive highlighter has helped me fake a youthful sheen. I don't use it nearly as often anymore b/c I don't have to.
BONUS! You can get your Instagram-awesome photo of your face covered in your own blood, too, which might come in handy during Halloween!
SO, thanks Dr. Ingber and Dermacure! I'll be back for a laser...
Read moreOn my first visit, I spent over 2k on different types of fillers and Botox. My lower lip still has bums 2+ years. I decided to schedule an appt and consult with the doctor on my lower lip bumps and get more Botox/fillers elsewhere on my face. I unfortunately had to reschedule my appt because my child broke his arm. I was told there was a $50 cancellation fee less than 24 hrs prior, which I understand; however, knowing that I was going to spend a significant amount of money, I felt that this was unacceptable. I told the receptionist to charge my card for the cancellation fee and that I would take my business elsewhere. I thought someone would reach out to me and offer to reschedule and refund the cancellation fee if they really wanted to establish a relationship. No one did! Don’t go here! They are not customer...
Read moreIf you're looking to enhance your natural beauty, DermaCure is the place to go! I’ve been seeing Nurse Devon for all my beauty treatments, and I can’t recommend her enough. She’s completely transformed my skin, especially in terms of texture and overall radiance. While I’ve always had “good” skin, her treatment plan gave me the biggest glow-up. We do microneedling, FotoFacial, chemical peels, laser hair removal, lip filler, and a little bit of Botox. She’s all about achieving natural results that subtly enhance what you already have.
I also love that I can purchase all my favorite skincare products at DermaCure. Hunter and Nurse Daisy have been a huge help in creating a consistent skincare routine. And if you ever need a pick-me-up, I highly recommend their Vitamin IVs and a...
