House Maranto Games — Local services in Santa Fe

I preordered the Final Fantasy MTG Commander decks from House Maranto Games. At the time of preorder, no price was given, but it was implied to be MSRP. I canceled an existing Amazon order to support a new local game store instead.

No payment was collected when I reserved the decks, and I did not receive a receipt or written confirmation of price. That was my mistake—I assumed good faith.

When the product released, I was informed the decks would cost significantly more than MSRP (in my case, $90). I spoke directly with one of the owners, who justified the price increase by referencing market value. The decks were in stock and available, but they had decided to charge above MSRP based on secondary market pricing.

To be clear: this was not a case of allocation issues or product shortages. They received the decks and chose to raise the price post-release—even for people who preordered.

If I had known they were planning to match TCGplayer pricing, I would have purchased the decks elsewhere a month earlier at $80 and already had...

Have been going to this store since they first opened. The owner and his family are amazing! They are always growing their inventory and developing thier store. The shop is always clean and there seems to be a vision where they want the shop to go.

They also have always been giving to the store community and the greater Santa Fe area. They have help multiple charity game events, free pizza parties, after school events, teaching events... It really is amazing how much this shop does.

I also will never forget how hard it was to get into my new TCG. The greater Houston area has been struggling with a supply chain issue. The owner helped me meet some new players to teach me and lent me a deck. When other locations are scalping their players this one is supporting us.

I hope this store stays around for generations to come.

I’ve been to a lot of local game stores since I travel a lot for work. I have to say this is one of the top 3 stores I have ever been to. Everything is well organized and fairly priced. The people working there were also very patient and knowledgeable. They have a big selection of warhammer, paints, dungeons and dragons, magic the gathering and other card games.
