Food Lion — Local services in Santee

I don't like to leave bad reviews but where does it stop. Went to pick up Parmesan Cheese for dinner. Parmesan Cheese.... My husband picks the container up and it's orange. Went out of date January of 2024..... This set me off.

For years now I have reported from bad produce to spoiled meat. Manager even offered to pay me for my trouble but I did not want to just throw out a number. You go to the meat department and they have brown slimy meat marked down, Manager's Special. Folks this meat is ruined. The hams with the seal broken they mark down,,,, air seal is broken and it spoiled. I worked in Meat Department 10 plus years. You don't sale items that could make people sick. I took back some chicken one day and the front end manager got smart with me because I didn't have my receipt and she had to smell it to scan it. Like I enjoyed opening it at home or the ride back to the store with it. Y'all can do better. You have some great employees and some lazy ones. But regardless, if it's bad throw it out. Don't make a dime on the poor or ones that don't know it's bad. Stop getting pissy with people when they return the stores mistakes. Walk the store from time to time. Check the departments.... If I can find things on weekly basis, surly management can being in the store daily. If this offends anyone,,,, I'm...

Update: I did go to Food Lion in Orangeburg and what a difference! It's too far for me to go frequently, but I will try to plan my weekly shopping there. Much bigger selection! Still don't have what I'm looking for to replace my Publix faves, but they do that more options than my local FL. With all the new housing though, someine needs to get good grocery store options here. Not a very big selection, especially not for healthy choices. I've never been to other Food Lion so can't compare to that, but it makes me really miss Publix! Actually more expensive than Publix too which surprised me. Don't have sales circulars very often. Online ordering goes through instacart, which costs more, so it's hard to do pick up orders. Parking lot is very frustrating and stressful, they need to make arrows and make each row one way. Very confusing...

Many, many thanks to a very honest employee named Brian. My husband inadvertently left his wallet in a buggy and didn't realize it until an hour later after arriving at a campground where we had no cell phone service. He drove as fast as he could back to the store and was relieved to find that Brian had found his wallet and turned it in to Customer Service. They had even tried contacting me but we had no cell service. Everything was still intact and all of my cash was still there. Honest employees like Brian are few and far between.
