Barnes & Noble — Local services in Sarasota

I will never come back to this location. I would rather drive to st. Pete or the other one further south in sarasota. I don't know if the manager was having a bad day but the way she approached me and how she followed me around the store was a bit un settling. I had just gone into a few other stores that didn't require a mask. it was my fault cause I saw 2 other people walking out as I went in without a mask that I thought it wasn't required. As a manager, I know there's certain ways to approach a situation. However the manager here approached me about the mask and as I apologized that I didn't see the sign she turned and condescendinglly said under her breath "its there". Then she went to grab me a mask, I Said thank you but as she walked away I started to noticed her making rounds and following me in a attempt to be discret. I did have my dog with me, but I had also called that morning to make sure dogs were allowed. Nala didn't misbehave in anyway in order to warrant a following by the manager. I felt that I didn't belong and I was being watched so instead of buying the books I wanted I left. It's a situation that never needed to happen, and hopefully the manager on duty today around 245 ish sees this to know that as a manager she should have treated the situation a bit better and not make people feel in wanted in a store. It kind of felt like Christy was following us around 15 minutes before closing on Friday 2-7-25. Gray hair, glasses, blue shirt. Maybe that wasn't her name I just know that's what the lady was wearing for reference so if you can run the tapes between 08:46-08:59.

So I just started following her around from section to section too. Why not!?? Lol. Mystery, history, travel section. I stopped caring. I knew I was being tailed when she went over into the cafe too. All the other associates being friendly and productive multitasking. Anyone who works retail is trying to shut that place down and wrap up go home, countdown cash registers all that stuff and here you are following me. Then when I finally left that's when she went behind the register again. Get a life. You act like it's a Gucci store or Louis Vuitton. So many other people in that store. I enjoy coming here very nice atmosphere for reading and in a really nice place close to UTC Mall, it is on the pricey side but not too much different from book prices on amazon, but take into account that amazon might have a discount on a certain book which is better than barnes and noble. The membership is $25 a year and youll receive a 10% discount as a member. Would recommend goodwill bookstore before coming here if you are looking for certain books. I found 2 books in goodwill bookstore for 3 dollars each like new that in barnes and noble cost $18 and $19. Its a nice first option before visiting barnes and noble. But I love the vinyls section of barnes and noble and they have certain books that you would be surprised existed which is a nice thing to look into.
