My husband and I recently moved from California and were looking for some new furniture for our home. We came to Ethan Allen and I observed a very enthusiastic designer working with the couple. She even went outside the store with them to show how the fabric they chose will look in natural light. I immediately knew that I would like to work with that person and asked her if it’s possible to have an appointment with her that day. She introduced herself, it was Kathleen Becket, and arranged an appointment. Kathleen is very knowledgeable and very passionate about what she does. She showed us many different fabrics for the sofa we chose, in the color scheme that we wanted. Then she helped us to choose the chairs to go with the sofa and suggested different fabric to make the room look more interesting. We could not be more pleased by her knowledge, professional skills and very warm personality. After our initial meeting and us ordering the Anderson sofa and the chairs on the spot, I sent Kathleen the pictures of the room and she answered all my additional questions. Kathleen kept us informed about the delivery of the sofa and the chairs. When I decided that I want the new rug for another room, I contacted Kathleen and she met with me at the time convenient for me and showed different rugs samples. Kathleen offered to come to our home on her day off and help to see how it would look in that room. In fact, the one that I originally thought about, would not work in that room and Kathleen brought another sample that looks beautiful. She discussed with me how better to place the furniture, how to place the new rug! Kathleen suggested that it’s better to place 9” x 12” rug in the opposite direction than we have it now. Kathleen discussed with me the art that could be placed differently and other subjects related to the interior design and making your home absolutely beautiful. My husband & I have owned a condo on Longboat Key for 17 years but recently purchased a much larger partially furnished condo near the southern tip of Longboat Key. We had gone to Macys at UTC with the goal of purchasing new mattresses & potentially some new pieces of furniture only to discover that Macy's website erroneously list this as a "Furniture Gallery". Frustrated, we wandered around UTC until my husband noticed the Ethan Allen store & suggested we take a casual look......fortunate for us we did!

We were greeted by Kathleen O'Malley Beckett who has over 30 yrs of design experience having run her own firm in Canada before relocating to FL from upstate NY a year and a half ago. Kathleen quickly got a sense of our style, interests & design objectives. We learned that with Ethan Allen we could have a stylish sophisticated look AND comfort - the two are not mutually exclusive! Kathleen rapidly pulled together sophisticated pairings of colors, textures and furniture pieces. She came out to our new condo & measured & measured while making sensible recommendations to redeploying some existing pieces of furniture. In other words, she's not just trying to book a sale. She is smart, savvy, extremely energetic, detail orientated, practical & while she has strong opinions, Kathleen is a first rate listener & responsive to our perspectives. Kathleen is one of those rare finds in the current environment - - -someone who is truly a seasoned talented professional with a great zest & passion for her work. Can't Hold Back Anymore! We bought an Astor sofa and two chairs a little over a year ago. Since then the sofa cushions cushions have been replaced twice. When delivered to us the first time, we noticed abnormal gaps between the cushions. They were also not level and had rippling along the face of the cushions. Two replacements later, there are still gaps between the cushions to the point that you can read the writing on the lining underneath the cushions. When you sit, it is uncomfortable and you must continually shift the cushions to create a more normal fit between the end cushions and the middle cushion. The cushions also still have permanent wrinkles, ripples and puckering across the front due to the wrapping of the cushion under the fabric. They also do not sit level against the frame. I have contacted both in writing and verbally, the customer service department, the manager, and sales designer that sold it to me. No one ever followed up with me after the second delivery. I filled out a form expressing my concerns and gave it to the delivery crew. I am so unhappy with the sofa and both family and two friends that are experienced interior decorators agree with me that there are several things wrong wrong with this sofa. I have a Drexel Heritage sofa in another room that is over ten years old and the cushions have kept their original form and fit correctly on the frame. The prices are high the quality is low. This is not the Ethan Allen of years ago. I grew up with Ethan Allen furniture that my parents were proud to have in their home. The quality has gone way down.
