Hampton Inn & Suites Sarasota/Lakewood Ranch — Hotel in Sarasota

When we went to pack our car the morning after our stay we were shocked to find that our car had been vandalized overnight in the HI parking lot. One of our rear taillights had been smashed/broken probably by someone walking by that night for whatever reason. Frustrating...though we understand that these sorts of things happen, etc. What was truly disappointing was Hampton's response. They basically sent their maintenance man to take a look at it, got defensive right away about how "these sorts of things never happen here", and then further lectured us on how they weren't responsibile for what happens to vehicles [of their guests they ironically said] and that covering these sorts of incidents was what our insurance was for. I asked to talk to the manager and was told she was not available and that she would call me to discuss the incident though she never called or followed up. Very disappointed in the way they simply blew us off for what we considered a very serious customer service incident. Management like that that shows a "I could care less" attitude is substandard to say the least, so I'd be careful expecting much of any substantive customer service there from current management if you ever need it. We are at the Diamond customer level with Hilton and have always had pleasant customer experiences by many, many fine members of their team though this particular location not so much. -Dan H., Wisconsin

I am a Hilton honors member and use the app for digital check in. I had no issues using digital room key either. The Hotel was outstanding! Very clean rooms. I even saw a housekeeper using a Lysol wipe on trim in the hallway. Breakfast was great! We stayed for 4 days and every morning the main course was different. I was shocked they had biscuits and gravy which a lot of hotels have gotten rid of. The pool was very clean and nice as well. You can tell this hotel had very high-quality upkeep maintenance workers as well. The lobby was great very clean as well. You can tell when you pull up to the hotel that it has been kept up on all the maintenance unlike a lot of hotels they let the quality go downhill quick. The location was near a shopping plaza so we shopped and ate at different restaurants in the area. 20 minutes from Lido Key or siesta Key Beach, which we swim at every day. We normally in the past have stayed at hotels on the beach which have gone downhill and the prices keep getting higher. Only complaint was the outdoor hot tub was out of order. They did say they would call the hotel across the street and ask if we could use that one which was a little annoying but we made do. The location is perfect if you have any business or social event planned in Lakewood Ranch. I was attending a charity event at the golf and country club and the location is absolutely perfect. it was 20 minutes to the beach and downtown Sarasota and 10 mins to Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.

The rooms were nice and fairly updated.. The shower head could use an update, rainforest heads with separate sprayers would be nice. Instead, they have the cheap plastic spin adjustable head with low flow equipped.

The beds were super firm, I prefer a more medium to soft bed and the pillows were ultra thin

The plus side. the AC is one of the quietest I have ever had outside of high end hotels. So for quiet and sound sleeping, that is a plus.

Also the room layout is fantastic with a nice couch and chair seating area and a central desk/ TV cabinet that you can see through. very nice room overall. Just need a softer bed and better shower head.

Breakfast was OK. typical fare for this type of location. Only complaint there was the lack of bacon. Not a fan of chicken sausage patties. But overall a good breakfast and the staff kept everything...
