My wife and I just attended an outrageously funny production of the Savannah Repertory Theater at the Savannah Rep PLAYShop. The play, âTHE LEGEND OF GEORGIA McBRIDEâ, is the story of and aspiring Elvis impersonator who is in dire financial trouble. Because of a strange set of circumstances he finds his only chance for gainfull employment is as a straight member of a Drag Queen act. All I can say is that it seemed to me that everyone in the audience, young and old, greatly enjoyed the show, in fact about ½ of the audience got to actively participate in the show â doing so was strictly a matter of choice (and seat location). I strongly recommend that you try to see this show, and future Savannah Repertory Theater productions.
This is the 3rd Savannah Repertory Theater production that we have seen this year, and all of them have been very good with outstanding acting â with the cast lead by one or more Actors Equity members. Actors Equity Association is the âgold standardâ of Theater. To the best of my knowledge this is the only âEquityâ theater in the...
Read moreI would like to recommend this performing arts center to anyone seeking theatrical entertainment. It's the South so of course the hospitality is joyous and present like no other region so I will not linger my review about my warm welcome. I want to reccomend the rich and devoted staff and cast that is associated with this performing arts center. I enjoyed myself in the audience of The Legend of Georgia McBride. Real laughter and astonishment was experienced by watching the cast members engage within their talents. And yes I will return in the future because I am elated about the scheduled playbill for this year. Please come be entertained and support this Growing Performing...
Read moreI had previously been to the Savannah Rep for Little Women, the Musical with my daughter. We thoroughly enjoyed that play, which led to purchasing tickets for Lombardi, which was also enjoyable, especially for my football-fan husband. The venue is in an unexpected location, being in an industrial section. Between my first play and this one, they have made several improvements, and it looks much more inviting, both inside and out. I highly recommend giving the Savannah Repertory Theater a try. The plays have been fantastic, and the casts have been stellar. We plan to become season ticket holders in...
