If I could give this place 0 stars, I would.
One concern that had been "addressed" multiple times by management is the parking situation. You only get one per unit (even if you have multiple bedrooms/tenants) & there is never any guest parking. You can't park in the neighboring areas, & people will park in your spot regardless of it being assigned to you.
Rent was higher than what I was told during walk through. When I addressed some concerns (that will be listed below) as to why I would want to leave after my lease was up, Dan insisted on finding a way to make me stay. After numerous suggestions, and being told he couldn't do any of them, I gave up since it was clear he was being dishonest regarding his intent, & that there was not going to be any "incentives" to keep me there. Not only that, but after promising that my rent would stay where it was, the base was raised over $100 (which doesn't even include all the extra fees they forget to tell you about).
The light fixtures didn't work, it was dirty, there was a hole in the wall in the bedroom & other damages to which the management did not respond. The dishwasher is terrible. It leaves nothing but residue, & you are better off just hand washing them. My sink wreaked of rotting when I first moved in, and after numerous attempts at trying to get maintenance to come out, it was unsuccessful and I had to clean it out myself. The shower has terrible water pressure, which if you have thick or long hair, forget about it. Another note, the closet was in the bathroom, & though decently sized, made your clothes smell & seem stale because there is no circulation, even when keeping the door open. The fridge/freezer does not stay closed, it will open in the middle of the night/day and spoil all of your food. I can't tell you how many times it did that and the issue was never fixed by maintenance. When maintenance did finally come, they wreaked of cigarettes, & even with the door open and circulating air, the smell did not go away for hours. Not only that, but they were late every single time.
Don't bother expecting the "quiet time policies" to be enforced. I made multiple complaints regarding noise (only making complaints when they were inside the regulated hours) & received a response stating there was nothing they could do about it & to buy a fan to put next to my bed to block the noises out. Sorry, but when someone is making noise from 4/5AM to midnight/1AM every night, it's not livable, and a fan is certainly not going to help. I was also told that "the neighbor above you says she has been very quiet so she doesn’t think it’s her". Do you really think someone is going to incriminate themselves? When my lights in my living space are shaking because of how hard she is constantly stomping around, I highly doubt it can be anyone else. Mind you, I responded accordingly and yet again received no response to fix the issue.
Last but not least. The management. When I moved in, I had an incentive of $1000 that I asked for in the form of a gift card. I never received it after multiple follow ups, and then was told that it was applied to my first month's rent. After MANY emails back and forth providing my bank statements as well as the confirmation email that I paid the full balance of my rent, they still refused to give me my credit. It took me about 3-4 months of frustration to receive the credit. New management came, I thought things would get better. Boy was I wrong. Dan is a manipulative liar that is only looking out for himself. Not only were residents complaining about him, but you could tell his staff despised working for him. He is a terrible manager, and definitely does not deserve to be in the position of power that he is. He also referred to me multiple times by the wrong name, even though my name was right in front of him on every single email. It’s people like Dan that make others not want to do business with a company.
In the end, the amenities are not enough to outweigh the cons. My new place has definitely shed a light on just how bad Luxe...
Read moreI never write reviews for anything, but this one is necessary to help steer away anyone from the unnecessary stress that this place caused me.
When we first moved in, they gave me & my roommate two assigned parking spots. After about a year & a half of living there, they took one of the covered parking spots away because they “needed it for other residents”. Mind you, no one used the parking spot they took away for about three weeks after. The open, unassigned parking at this complex is non-existent. People would be sitting in their cars, fighting & desperately waiting for someone to move out of a spot (if that even happened). If you had plans at night, well I hope you had your walking shoes on because you would have to park BLOCKS away from the complex. I had to park on a random street away from the complex hoping I wouldn’t get towed or my car wouldn’t get broken into throughout the night because there was never parking.
The complex itself inside is always dirty. Obviously they can’t do anything about people not following valet trash rules if people don’t want too. However, the floors inside the complex were always dirty. The stairwells were never cleaned. Dirt, pet hair, and trash filled them all of the time. It always smelt like trash and pet urine.
The rent for a place like this is overly high. The cleaning fees shouldn’t even be charged at this point because the complex is always dirty? What are you guys even cleaning with my money? When we moved into our apartment, we had to deep clean the whole thing because NOTHING was cleaned. Again, what is this cleaning fee for your charging your tenants every month?
Also, this apartment is the dustiest apartment you could ever live in. They install cheap air filters that don’t work at all. If you want to have decently clean air, you have to purchase high quality air filters yourself. I’m not even sure that would help. I would have to dust the walls, door frames, EVERYTHING at least once a week. I needed to do it more, but who has time for that? I would sneeze every day in that apartment no matter how clean I got it. Granted, Arizona is dry and dusty everywhere, but my current apartment is not NEARLY as dusty. I haven’t had to dust since I’ve moved in and I’ve lived here almost a month.
Now that we have moved out, they want to unnecessarily charge us for carpet replacement that has normal wear & tear damage. The carpet was not clean when we moved in, but because we didn’t specifically say that the carpet was dirty on our move in sheet, they are charging us $100+. We just moved out at the right time for them to do routine carpet replacement, but for them to “blame” it on us so that we can pay for part of it.
The noise is another thing that should steer you away from this place. At least two days a week, they would have outdoor maintenance crews mowing, leaf-blowing, etc. starting at around 7am. The apartment complex is also located on one of the main roads to head to Old Town, so there’s constant loud traffic noise. My apartment faced the main road, so I couldn’t enjoy/sit my balcony the whole two years I lived there because it was so noisy I couldn’t hear anything. If you go to the pool, you can hear the traffic as well and it is so loud. I couldn’t enjoy the pool even without headphones to block out the noise. The walls are also paper thin. Whether it was upstairs neighbors or downstairs neighbors, you could hear everything.
The only good thing about living here was that maintenance requests got handled within a very reasonable time. However, I did hear maintenance talking badly about how they had to come to my apartment monthly because our drains would get clogged so easily. Not my fault that you guys have an awful plumbing system.
Overall, even if this place was free of rent, it still would not be a good place to live. Do yourself a favor & either tour it before you move in (youll automatically take it off your list), or don’t even apply here at all. There is no apartment complex that is perfect, but for this one, the BAD...
Read moreI moved into this apartment when it was still Alta Scottsdale. I was one of the first residents to move into B building, which is the newest building. The management team was fairly nice. I was impressed with the location of the complex and the modern design.
However, that's about the only positive thing I can say about this apartment complex. While the apartments look nice and are very spacious, the workmanship is awful. We had door handles that fell off every time we opened the door. The name "Luxe Scottsdale" is incredibly ironic.
Rent was about $100 more than I was told. You are required to pay for community gas, community pest control, $25/month for Valet Trash, electricity for the community center, leasing office, gym and pool that runs 24/7. Fine, but at least disclose this in the tour.
The dishwasher doesn't work. It runs, but doesn't clean and leaves disgusting water spots and you'll need to hand wash everything. There is something seriously wrong with the way the electrical is run. Half of the time when I turned my fan on in my room at night, the entire electricity would blow. Well, I was out of luck most of the time since the breaker was in my roommates room, leaving me with no alarm. Other residents have complained about plumbing issues. I haven't experienced that so I can't speak to it, but thought it was worth mentioning.
There's simply not enough parking for all residents here. If you come home late, you'll be circling the parking lot trying to find a spot in your own apartment complex. If you park along curb, you'll be ticketed. Management's solution was to no longer allow visitors. Hopefully you don't have friends or family or significant others who'd like to come over. Management will tow them if they park at the complex. You can pay $30 a month for one of the many reserved spots that sit empty while people park along fire lanes because there is nowhere else to park.
The leasing office lacks customer service.Myself and another resident were told to wait and for more than 15 minutes once while trying to pick up a package while the staff was discussing something. Ownership transferred in December. We didn't receive logins for the new portal to pay our rent until the weekend of New Years. Like many others, I was on vacation. Therefore, I was trying to enter my routing number and checking account number on my mobile device. Days after I noticed nothing had been pulled from my bank account so I investigated and realized I mistyped a number. My fault. However, the staff kept saying it was fine and it pulled the payment and wouldn't listen as I told them they were wrong and should expect the ACH payment to be invalid. I had to fight with them to recharge me so I could make the payment correctly. Hello, I'm just trying to be honest and pay my rent.
They also sent me a passive aggressive email asking my roommate and I to stop throwing cigarette buds over the balcony. We don't smoke...
Additionally, the complex is SO dirty. It looks like it hasn't been cleaned since we moved in. I'll add pictures. The elevator door in my building is kicked in and makes an awful noise when it opens and closes. There are footprints all over the elevator walls and buttons, which is disgusting.
Needless to say I couldn't wait to for my lease to end. I just moved to The Moderne on Camelback and Scottsdale behind the Optima. My experience has been so different and the staff there is unparalleled in customer service. I couldn't be happier. If you're looking for somewhere to live in the Old Town area, I'd highly recommend taking a look there. It's definitely more of a luxury apartment compared to this apartment
I have no personal issues with anyone who works here. I just felt that I needed to leave a truthful review for anyone considering living here before they sign a lease to pay nearly 2K a month under false pretenses.
To the management, this place could be great if you took the time to listen to your residents and make...
