If I could give less than a 1 star, I would. Horrible First Experience for Our Son
We took our 2-year-old to Seekonk Speedway tonight for what was supposed to be his first real race. The first time he was at a race, he was only 5 months old, so this was his first big boy experience. We were thrilled to share this with him as a family โ especially since one of his first and favorite words is โcar.โ He spends so much time in our front yard waving at cars that drive by, saying โHi car!โ with the biggest smile.
We drove 45 minutes through Providence traffic with a very excited toddler shouting โcar, car, car!โ the whole way. When we arrived, we stood in line, all smiling and ready for an unforgettable night. A security guard checked our bag, complimented our son on how friendly he was, and moved on.
Then, 20 minutes later โ still standing in the hot sun โ the same guard returned. He said the ticket booth lady (who wouldnโt even speak to us herself) claimed my son couldnโt come in because we only had our stroller wagon. I know regular wagons arenโt allowed, but this is not a toy wagon โ itโs a stroller wagon, purchased specifically to help me manage our toddler while 7 months pregnant and to give both of our boys space.
Hereโs the frustrating part: Last year, when my son was 5 months old, we brought an actual wagon into Seekonk with no problem. Now, we bring a stroller wagon โ which is safer, more functional, and stroller-certified โ and weโre denied entry without any reasonable conversation or compassion.
If the policy changed, fine. But the least they could have done was say:
โWe allowed this last year, but our policy has changed. Since youโre already here with your excited child, weโll let you in this time โ but please bring a standard stroller next visit.โ That would have been fair, decent, and humane. Instead, our little boy was crushed, we had to calm down a heartbroken toddler, and we left after wasting our evening.
We will never return to Seekonk Speedway. Stafford Speedway will get our business instead โ theyโve allowed our stroller wagon without issue and treat families with respect.
Seekonk, you turned what should have been a core memory for our child into a major...
ย ย ย Read moreGood old American fun. Get your tickets online so it's one less line to stand in. Lost of friendly people at the track though, always have fun waiting in line because everyone has a story. Fast cars, crashes and the occasional car-B-Q. The food is surprisingly good, everything you would expect, burgers, dogs, fries and chicken fingers but add pulled pork sandwiches, clam chowder and crab cakes. Ice cold beer, Del's and plenty of refreshments and snacks. Get a stadium seat back for $3 and kick back and watch the mayhem. Bring sun screen and try to sit just to the right of the tower it's the only shade in the seating area besides the stretch near turn 3 and 4. You are allowed to bring in six pack size coolers and they are now allowing backpacks and large carry bags. No alcohol or bottles are allowed to be brought into the track, they have police checking all bags at the gate. Sometimes they won't let you bring in your D & D coffee or ice coffee so be prepared to either chug or toss. Be prepared for the smell of burning rubber and brush up on your line dancing as the commentators likes to get the kids down to the wall to dance the electric slide and other...
ย ย ย Read moreCame to watch my brother race, wasn't aware pit passes were available until the enduro races were in effect. Spent 20mins walking back and forth being misdirected by track staff before encountering a women at the rear ticket booth. I explained I already purchased a ticket but wanted to upgrade to a pit pass. I asked extremely politely and explained I was aware of the prerequisites. A simple, "I'm sorry but you are 20mins too late" would of been more than acceptable. But the woman I dealt with was beyond rude, didn't even give me the time of day to explain I was too late, and just brushed me off like I was loose cattle on a farm mumbling explicits under her breath. I've always had a great time here but this may be one of the worst customer experiences I've had in years. If you hate your job there are plenty others. Absolutely no need to treat someone like that, especially after they were more than friendly, polite and understanding of the given circumstances. I'd be terribly upset as a manager of this operation seeing someone treated like that when given no reason whatsoever, especially as family of racer. One that brings 30-40+ spectators along...
