If I could give this store zero stars, then I would. My fiancee and I (we are both women) came into the store, said hello, and the men behind the counter completely ignored us. We didn't think anything of it, and continued to browse. My fiancee has a specific collection, and had been looking for months for a watch to add to it. She found her holy grail! It was in perfect condition, and at a great price! We immediately went to the counter to ask for a key. The men whispered amongst each other before one offered to help. I stayed downstairs, and was unaware of what was taking place upstairs. My fiancee let me know that she had been informing the man that I was her fiancee, and that the watch was her "holy grail" to add to her collection. She explained that the man was very short with her. She then informed me that she had the watch in her hand walking down the steps, when the man asked to take the watch from her. She politely said of course, and handed him the item, before immediately walking to the counter to pay, where I had been waiting. The man took quite some time before arriving with the watch, and much to our dismay, he had broken it. I kindly asked if we could receive a discount, and the other man, before I had even finished asking, said, "no, absolutely not". I kindly asked why, and he stated that it could be fixed. I asked if he would please call the booth owner and ask them, because the item had been admittedly broken by the other man. He stated that he would not. My fiancee explained how she was upset, because she had just mentioned how much finding it had meant. I explained that I knew it might be able to be fixed, but that it would be our time in doing so, and that it would be different had the item been broken when we found it, or had one of us broken it. I asked again that he call the booth owner. He again said no, and said it was because she wouldn't be able to see it. My fiancee explained that she didn't need to see it, just that it had been broken by one of them, and if she would offer a discount because of that. Neither man said a word, one huffed, took the watch away, and went over to the phone. We are thankful to the booth owner for offering a discount. However, both men were rude to us from the beginning. I would hate to accuse anyone of doing something like that on purpose, however it was clear that they did not want our business. I would not recommend this store to anyone, especially those within the LGBTQ community and...
Read morePLEASE READ. I don't usually give negative reviews, but this has to be posted as a WARNING! The man who runs this place approached us while my blind friend was looking at a clock he was interested in buying. The man asked what we need help with and was very nervous about his approach so I asked if he was OK and if we were making him nervous. He responded by blading towards us and reaching as if he were going to pull a gun and responded with "Yes". I am trained in conflict management and immediately attempted to deescalate the situation by asking what was making him nervous and assuring him we meant no harm to him or his business. He then accused us of steeling as we were leaving the store as quick and safe as possible. The situation was bad and my friend is 100% visually impaired and does not walk with a cane but holds your arm as you lead so it was slow going to get him to safety. Please use extreme caution when dealing with this place because it has been my experience in the past that overreaction happens and lives are permanently changed or lost with people like this man showing intent and ability to cause potentially lethal...
Read moreI absolutely loved my visit to Heartland Antiques & Collectibles. Walking into the two-story, red-barn-style building felt like stepping into a fascinating history book. The store is impressively well-organized with wide aisles, making it easy and enjoyable to explore all the nooks and crannies. The variety here is incredible—from elegant period furniture and fine china to quirky gems like old LIFE magazines and classic PEZ dispensers. What really stood out was how beautifully everything was displayed. It’s clear the store takes pride in presenting its pieces in a clean, accessible way. The folks working there were friendly and welcoming, which made the experience feel personal and pleasant. Whether you’re a serious collector or just enjoy browsing for interesting finds, Heartland Antiques & Collectibles is well worth a stop. I came away with a few unique treasures and memories—I can’t...
