Short review: Just go there.
Long review:
I’m not an expert on authentic Philly cheesesteaks but I feel like I can vouch for Cheezy Steaks. I usually don’t post a review until I’ve visited the same place multiple times, but Cheezy Steaks deserves a review after just two visits. I’ll update this review after future visits because I plan on being a lifetime customer. I have tried the chicken and the hot dog cheesesteaks so far.
On both occasions the meat for the steak was tender and flavorful. The sautéed onions were such a nice touch and the only other topping I had was mushrooms but that’s just me. I’m a simple guy.
Honestly, the chicken was even more amazing. I added the white American cheese and I was overwhelmed with flavortown. I’m no Guy Fieri but wow, it was just intense.
That peppery, cheesy, shredded poultry meat on fluffy white hoagie bread had me at the first bite. The pretzel hot dog bun sets this thing off into another world and the sweet and savory meat frank was glorious.
More than the food or anything else it’s the person behind it all. I met owner Chrissy over the phone when I ordered for the first time. She was very welcoming and such a light of joy.
After hearing her story it just reaffirms what I’ve always thought about food: you’re not selling just cheesesteaks, you’re selling an experience. And my experience with Cheesy Steaks was about the people. And...
Read moreI have never been to Philly but have been searching for the best Philly cheese steak. I over heard someone talking about this being the best place to get them in east TN (said person used to live 30 min from Philly). The owners are from Philly from my understanding and explained how they make them there but they have other options if you don't want it traditional. It is a bit pricey in my opinion but definitely worth it them being a locally owned family business. It was so delicious. They have a fantastic environment and very friendly. As someone who does not participate in church the one thing I loved the most is that you can tell they love the lord but they do not try to force it on you but if you wanted to talk to them about it they would gladly do so. Even though there are no refills they will check on you throughout your meal to see if you need anything and make sure your food was great. And after you are done they will come get your tray for you so you don't have to get up at all. I definitely recommend this place it is amazing! I did not get a picture this last time because I was so excited to try it but I will go back soon and get one then. If I could give more than 5...
Read moreI spotted Cheezy Steaks late at night as I was driving towards the nearby Super 8. The business was closed, but I made a mental note to return the next day. As a fan of authentic cheesesteak sandwiches, I couldn’t resist.
The check out time of the hotel lined up with the opening time of Cheezy Steaks - it was like a sign from above.
The two employees were super friendly and welcoming. I felt like a local that came in everyday. I imagine that the two people working were both owners and family members, this being a family owned business. They seemed comfortable and happy, which definitely extends a positive aura over the restaurant.
I went with the Plain Cheezy - with cheese whiz. Let’s be clear, if you’re not getting it wit’ whiz, you’re not getting an authentic cheesesteak experience. The sandwich did not disappoint. The employees checked on me several times to make sure everything was satisfactory, which is unheard of in a counter service restaurant.
Unfortunately, I live hundreds of miles away from Sevierville, otherwise I would be a regular. If you’re in the area, I would highly recommend stopping into Cheezy Steaks. The service is wonderful and the...
