Andrews Colour Atelier — Local services in Shaker Heights

BEWARE: I decided to finally seek out professional help in coloring my hair after years of doing it myself. Someone suggested I go to Andrews Colour Atelier at Van Aken District. I made an appointment for a consultation, which was required, and the owner, Erin, told me what she suggested and what the cost would be for the services. I asked what it would cost for touching up my roots and she said $45. At my first appointment everything was perfect until I went to pay the bill. While another employee was washing my hair twice my colorist came up and asked if I wanted conditioner on my hair. Of course I do since she just washed my hair twice and I knew I needed something. So she told the employee washing my hair to put on a conditioner and leave it on for 5 minutes. I don't think she left it on 45 seconds before rinsing it out and the shock was when I went to pay my bill I was charged $20 for the conditioner!!! I had assumed it was just some standard product not an up charge. Ok live and learn. Second appointment was to touch up the roots. I had the same colorist and when it was time to pay my bill it was NOT the $45 as I had been told by the owner but over $90 before tip!!! Ok- still learning curve but asked for someone in training who charges $45 for touch up of roots. Now I am on my third appointment yesterday and again I go to pay my bill and was told the charge was $68!!!!! Are you kidding me!!!!! I explained that I was told when I made the appointment that the person was in training and would only charge $45. The person at the front desk told me that she had just been promoted to the next level so her charge for my service went up. I kindly explained that since I received 2-3 text messages to confirm my appointment I should have been notified about the cost increase before the appointment. She said this time she would make an exception and I was only charged $45. I could see she was steaming as I cancelled my next appointment. I recently had a deeply disappointing experience at Andrews Color Atelier that I feel compelled to share. I spent over $400, including tip, for the Magic Sleek treatment, which took over 3.5 hours. Not only was this a significant waste of money, but it also felt like a complete waste of my time.

Having received similar treatments at other salons, I expected a noticeable reduction in frizz, but from my ears down, my hair looks exactly the same. The treatment is supposed to last 4 to 6 months and within 48 hours after washing my hair my hair was just as frizzy as before I did the treatment. When I attempted to discuss my concerns with the owner, Erin, I was met with rudeness and defensiveness. She accused me of not following the aftercare instructions, despite having informed her stylist that I had already purchased the recommended shampoo and conditioner.

Erin even hung up on me when I sought to schedule a meeting to discuss my unsatisfactory results. Unfortunately, her dismissive attitude aligns with what I've seen in other negative reviews regarding her conduct.

I urge anyone considering hair treatments at this salon to think twice. Save your time and money; there are far better...

First of all the ladies at the front desk were so friendly . I booked luxury head spa. And yes it worth every penny! I walked in and the whole atmosphere was so nice. They asked if you need coffee or water and they then linnea the lady who was going to do the service for me that day was so friendly and beautiful. She also explained everything through out the process. I had my scalp checked and it was good to see the details. Then she did a pretreatment explaining all the details before I go to the head spa room which was so cosy and you would feel so comfortable in it . Everything is discussed before the treatment and linnea had magic hands and did amazing job with every step. I had a hear treatment a facial and a hand massage! It felt sooooo goood. I was then recommended for any products as I asked and she helped me gladly with all her knowledge about whats good for my hair. I also took a hair mask. After the treatment I asked for a blow dry and I could feeel the difference in my hair and face. Everything was so healthy and refreshing!
