Tonight was my FIRST night at the SHAKOPEE community center of course because my 17, 16, and 15 year-old son right along with my nine-year-old son begged me to bring them as I did I guess the swimming pool close at 8 PM which I got here about 7:45 PM. I took my nine year-old to the pool while my older kids decided to play basketball with a number of kids that were in there with no adults. We are of course, African-American, which I’m very fortunate to be. 5 minutes go by with my son in the pool and this rude gentleman Comes down to the pool and tells me he hates liars and that he asked me if me and my children were together and I said yes, which we were together at that my moment. Then proceeds to tell me that I knew exactly what he meant and that because I lied to him he oughta call the police Because I didn’t apologize to him for lying. i’m a grown woman, and I have no reason to lie to any human being if he made a very clear statement asking if we were all gonna remain together through every room of the vicinity I would’ve been a little bit more clear but instead we had a misunderstanding, and this gentleman thinks Calling me a liar resolves a situation that was clearly a big misunderstanding. I didn’t think much of it because again there are several teenagers in the gym without an adult, which I definitely felt was a racist reaction for him to approach my family no one else calling us liars. misunderstandings do happen for the record and you’re not anybody for me to lie Also respect goals a very long way. This is a place. I probably would never allow me or my kids to come to again first and last time. Just cause the people overall it’s a nice and cute place that you would think the community could get together without experience in the negativity or the hate

Hi all :) Just wanted to share my recent experience at the play area of the community center (this is for the kid area only). My kids actually loved it! And the staff were friendly, and helpful. The play area was very clean, and there's a latched half door entry, where kids can take off shoes. Free wipes and hand sanitizer is offered as well, and there's a great skylight to let in light from above (but only illuminates the slide, not the whole area - though there's plenty of indoor lighting). There's a toddler area, and some interactive music wall art. As well as rock climbing walls, and of course the large play structure. When I was there, I saw kids from all ages - between 2 and 12 enjoying the space. And once the daycare is finished, from the attached door, it looks like the kiddos in the space will get to have full access to the playground (while parents are at the gym?). Here's the (very few) reasons I gave it four, instead of five stars: - there's no attached bathroom for the kiddos or parents. This might not be a big deal to go across the hall, if you got a school age child. But if you're bringing several children, under 4, could be a bit harder to coordinate when one needs a bathroom, and another insists on staying to play - there's two seats, that could comfortably fit four adults. That's it. Also, the seats are metal benches with no back support. So depending on how full the place is at the time, or possible health issues - that might limit how long you can stay. Otherwise, it's a great local indoor place!! - Katharina MOMS Club President of Shakopee and Prior Lake

10/12/2017 I came here too see the updates for the Shakopee planning community it was okay but they did not take this serious discuss what they're planning I was little disappointed and to be honest a waste of time and we didn't really discuss anything we just meet up exchange a few ideas but nothing serious happen and I'm not sure if they're going to start building more stores and jobs for this community in 2040 or around 2040. that's when they're going to make the plans happened but that's way too long to wait for anything to happen that's if they listen to civilians ideas of what should go. from jobs housing and transportation and given the history of this town and its liquor it's more likely they're going to make bad decisions with more liquor stores or more liquor breweries or bars Shakopee community center it's great to bring your kids to have fun but if you're in your twenties its not a good place to be and lack of programs depending what season your in and they don't offer paintball in the building and no self defense. Class or any Fighting training so overall great for kids and teens anyone older not good go somewhere else for fun

02/18/2022 l bring my 6 yrs old boy to swim and my 5 month baby. My son was swimming with a classmate meanwhile l was playing more attention to my baby. Suddenly my kid came to my crying and with a red bump in his face. Another kid around 12/13 yrs old punch him for no reason. Every body in the corners of the pool point to the aggressor and said my kid was doing nothing to him. I reach to people from the center and ask them to call a security they said we don’t have. The save guard token she will call the manager went to her office 5 minutes and she didn’t came out. I step out of the office and looks they were trying to ignore the situation. When manager came to me l repeat the story and she went to ask to some withe ladies if what la said was true “ as my Hispanic version wasn’t trusted enough “ thanks God those ladies confirm everything. Even though manager did nothing but open her big beautiful eyes. I was soo mad and sad. She said she can’t ask them to live. I said ok l will inform their mom that l am calling the police on them. Lucky for them the mom of the aggressor was polite and handle the situation quite aceptable. If the lady wouldn’t react as she did that situation would end up no good because l was definitely decided to call police. It concerns me that this area the pool doesn’t count with any camera around which is unacceptable for me. So l think it is a beautiful place but safety sucks and management of inappropriate behavior a isn’t...
