I've been with Donskov Strength & Conditioning for a little over six months, in the adult performance program. My wife and I go just once a week. We initially chose to talk to them because of all the high reviews on places like... well, here.
At first, I was pretty skeptical. I'm a big guy who isn't really that fit, who's never done anything quite like this before. How could a place that's been training hockey players, lots of aspiring young athletes, be able to help someone like me?
Here I am six months later, still going, and looking forward to going each and every week. I've learned so much about how my body works, how I can improve little by little, especially my lower body flexibility (one of my goals). I take copious notes about not only how to do the exercises, but how they should make me feel, what part is being stretched or worked.
The workouts change every four weeks for me, so it keeps it fresh and different all the time. The coaches are unbelievably helpful and friendly. Oh, they definitely push you - it's no popularity contest - but you understand WHY you're doing what you're doing, and how it's going to help you achieve your personal goals. You learn so much, and I can see the results -- my squats used to REALLY REALLY SUCK, and now... they're pretty decent!
The class size for the semi-private adult performance sessions are anywhere from 3-6 folks with 1-2 coaches. You get a really personalized experience not only in the structure of your hour and what you're doing, but also during the experience. I've never been locked out of a session, either, due to too many people, and I schedule them less than a week in advance every time (and not always on the same day - we are busy people too!). They're adding new sessions, also, so that tells me that business is 'healthy' which is great to hear.
If you're unsure whether or not you should do this because it'll be new, or you don't want to be in the crazy giant workout gyms (where I think some people go to be seen more than anything else ugh), or you just want some real good advice and someone to help you get there... you should give these guys a chance to show you what they can help...
Read moreThree years ago I was very overweight and not in the best health and I started on my own going to the gym and trying to eat right. I lost about twenty pounds on my own but leveled off there. I was a bit frustrated and still wasn't in the best health. Thankfully, I came across DSC online and I went in for a free assessment. They were so attentive and genuinely kind I instantly felt comfortable and that they were going to help me achieve my goals. Two years later I feel very a part of the DSC community not only with the staff but the other trainees. It is unlike any other place I have experienced or heard of from others. Their knowledge and care are unmatched and I couldn't image DSC not being a part of my life at this point. Anthony, Matt, Ben, and other staff are incredible and I would highly recommend anyone out there at any level from the person that isn't confident in even going to the gym all the way to the professional or Olympic athlete. Everyone can co-exist at DSC and comfortably. It makes for an amazing atmosphere and they have built an incredible culture and that isn't always easy to do. Now I feel like I have never felt in my life even as a high school and college athlete because I feel my strength and nutrition is so balanced. DSC truly changed my life...
Read moreI am an older adult who was searching for a facility to help build my strength, bone density, coordination and longevity. I am completely satisfied and grateful for the training and attention I get at Donskov Strength and Conditioning. The staff hand write my workouts with my personal strengths and weaknesses in mind. I am recovering from a broken ankle from March of this year and they consistently work to both build and protect this ankle and inquire how I am feeling/doing. The staff are well-trained, highly educated and personable. I feel the most important quality about Donskov Strength and Conditioning is the atmosphere. Training can be difficult and, at times, I would rather sit in my lazy-boy but I am greeted with such friendliness and care that I am always motivated to go. I am having a wonderful experience training here and I plan to train with them well...
