Dollar General — Local services in Sharpsburg

Its convenient and close to home for items such as simple everyday nessasities like paper towels, toliet paper. cleaning product etc. Some employees are very nice, others not so much. The store itself is filthy. The ceiling leaks when it rains an has buckets and garbage cans for the water to drip into. The tiles in the ceiling are falling qnd covered in water stains which I'm 99percent sure mold is growing all over. When it's not raining the whole store smells of mold. It's very unsafe for customers and employees. The store itself has a great potential to be amazing because its convenient forl ocals, has quick items ppl use daily at decent prices, but the store itself is so cluttered, unorganized, over stocked, filthy inside n out. It needs shut down. Gutted. New roof and someone who can keep up on the store. I worked for dollar general in springdale about 7yrs ago and corporate was very OCD I have no idea how corporate is letting...

I love this store and go there frequently since I don't have a car. The store has been closed now for 4 days and there is a sign on the door that says CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. The bridge out of town is closed to traffic so no buses can get through and now this store is closed it's insane. If you live in Sharpsburg, past 14th street and you don't have a car the only options you have to get groceries are walk 15 minutes (or longer) to Aspinwall to get a bus to the Waterworks mall, or walk 25 minutes to Family Dollar. This is a corporate store that has millions of dollars and they can't repair a wall in 4 days! It seems like Dollar General doesn't care about their customers or their employees. Pretty good variety store. I'll often pop in on my way to or from work to pick up an odd item here and there that I forgot to get while at Geagle or Wal-Mart. Prices are comparable to Family Dollar, but some of their selection is exclusive to DG and can't be found at Family Dollar (foods and frozens and seasonals most noticeably).

The only down side to this location is sometimes it is impossible to find a clerk when you're ready to check out. You have to walk the entire store on some days to find a staffer only to discover they're in the bathroom or outside on a break and you actually walked past them on your way in to get one item.
