Just had the nicest experience here. Stopped in because I had a Boylan pop here years ago and I wanted a treat. They must have remodeled since I'd been there last. It's now 50's style with booth's and few tables.

I got a Dambuster burger that was exceptional. It wasn't overly fancy or messy. Just a delicious burger with a house sauce. The fries are an extra crispy variety that were just perfect. The bun and burger quality were very good. Made even better by perfectly toasting the inside of the bun.

My wife had a dog with sauerkraut and loved it. The dog had a slightly snappy casing, which she doesn't prefer (but I do!) but was deliciously smokey. She was enamored with it because it tastes similar to the sausage we get back home in Central PA. Again on a high quality bun.

To wrap it up, we got a few ice cream sandwiches to go and a cup for our puppers. When the gentlemen realized it was for a god, he asked if we wanted a "PupCup"! and put a little bone in it for her and suggested we bring her by the next time.

The kitchen staff brought out our food and were so nice and very interested in how we enjoyed our good when they cleaned up afterward.

Unequivocal 5 stars. Go support this...

We love Lock and Dam! Everything we’ve tried from them is delicious. My go to is the dam deluxe hamburger and my husband loves the western burger, but we have tried them all and you can’t go wrong. It is my absolute favorite burger in Pittsburgh! My 5 year old can eat an entire burger happily, and they’re not small, they’re just that good. We tell friends about this place all the time and everyone has reported back with rave reviews. Oh, I’ve also got to shout out their fries, onion rings, and fried pickles. They’re battered and the best I’ve ever had. Every time we eat there- which is quite frequently- we spend the whole meal just talking about how good it is. Like it’s just a hamburger, but it’s a...

Hidden gem. Dogs and fries are great. So is ice cream. Prices are good too. Nice view outside of the dam and HP bridge.

Edit: took off a star bc they got rid of the foot long skinny dog and the Vienna beef and only started carrying one kind of expensive dog. I liked the Vienna beef myself and split the skinny dog in half for my kids, who don't want the higher end dog. It was great until they switched. Now none of us get what we want so we don't go as often as we otherwise would have.

Also, if you're going to eat outside it gets HOT. A couple umbrellas and some more tables would be nice, as would more frequent emptying of...

We were leaving the zoo while at the light on Baker St. noticed this hotdog shop and just had to stop. I have to say it was worth stopping for the strawberry milk shake it was so great. My husband has the cookies & cream peanut butter milk shake and it was really good also. I had the Chicago hotdog and he had the Dam Value meal which was a burger both good. If you are ever in the area I would recommend you try it. I do have to warn you there is a really annoying message that keeps going off from the light on Baker St.

Soooooo if it’s ice cream you want, this is a cool little spot to stop at on your way to and fro, located on the corner of Baxter and Butler St near the Pittsburgh Zoo. I’m not too happy they don’t have their dogs and burgers this summer (2024) but hope they’ll be back because the menu was simple and good! In the meantime, throw in a quarter and view the river for 25 cents.

Went on a Sunday for ice cream. Portion sizes were great and prices were fairly reasonable! Simple variety of flavors (soft serve : chocolate/vanilla/twist hard pack: about 8ish flavors I think) and options. My 12 year old was very thrilled to see a malted milkshake option. A very very hot day but easily found parking and the service was great!
