Sharon the manager for the club was very rude to me. I was trying to redeem my points that you accumulate every time you go to the club. Usually I show the person at the front desk that I have enough points to redeem for a Gatorade, the person at the front desk says "ok" I get my Gatorade and I go about my way to exercise. This particular afternoon, I show the person at the front desk, in this case it's Sharon that I have enough points to redeem for a Gatorade, she advises me the steps have changed. Please keep in mind she is of little help in assisting me in the new steps, at this point I become frustrated and tell her to forget it because time is wasting. My point to this post is, it’s about the principle. Why couldn't she say "since you weren't aware of the new policy I will allow you to get your Gatorade this time however next time you will need to do the following steps" She did none of the above. At this point i't's not about the Gatorade it's about her customer service and the lack thereof. Once I completed my workout, as I am walking out of the gym passing Sharon, she did not try to rectify the situation. There are too many other gyms within (5mins) away to deal with this nonsense. Sharon maybe you aren't aware of this however "Customer Service goes a long way". Read moreI’ve been a loyal member of Planet Fitness Shawnee since they opened over a decade ago, but the decline in competence and accountability here is staggering. I canceled my membership in person on 4/26—signed their e-doc and was told my membership would end on 5/17. On 5/19, I was still charged.
When I called, they suddenly had the ability to cancel over the phone—funny, since I was told it had to be done in person. Turns out the employee who processed my cancellation entered it for three months out. I was promised a manager would call me that day. I had to call the next day and talked to assistant manager who told me there was no note. When the manager finally called back (she told me there was a note left the first time, but she “forgot” to call), she refused to refund me because I didn’t have email confirmation—despite the fact that her own staff mishandled it. She had the ability to fix the issue and simply chose not to. No apology. No ownership. No clue.
I had to contact my bank and dispute the charge myself—because basic customer service is apparently too much to ask.
The manager operates with the energy of someone who Googled “how to be in charge” and stopped at step one. Unqualified, unbothered, and completely unfit to lead. If Planet Fitness cares at all about its reputation, replacing her would be a great place to start. Read moreUse the other locations.. the staff (except for one lady) are extremely rude here. First the tall older gentleman working didn’t want to let me use the hydro massage even though I have a black pass. He kept saying there weren’t any spots and I was looking at about 10 openings on the screen in front of me. I got my massage. Well then I like to enjoy tanning once in awhile so I went back to make an appt for the stand up bed. The tiny girl standing next to the older gentleman was extremely rude for absolutely no reason.. like rolling her eyes and disrespecting me when I asked questions. Told me I had to pay for the disposable protective eyewear (I’ve never heard that before and I use 3 locations) and the rude old guy walked right up to me with his arms crossed and said that’ll be 50 cents trying to back up her rudeness. She then said do I even have 50 cents and I proceeded to ask why they were being so rude. He backed up about 10 feet and said he wasn’t being rude then they both lost it and ran off. A manager that seen everything came over and apologized saying tension was high that day but that it wasn’t an excuses, etc, and gave me a free pair of protective goggles to attempt to make up for the insults.
