We saw beautiful jewelry, scarves, sweaters, interesting home decor, all types of hats, quality cookware and kitchen items. I can't even begin to list the plethora of stock that can be found. As stated in their brochure, "The proprietors of this establishment are in the 2nd generation of selling durable goods and services to the public at this choice location, and we continue the practice of extending fair and honorable dealings to all". On a 1001 mile back roads trip we were driving towards Harper's Ferry, WV..Went around a curve, passing O'Hurley's and my husband made a u-turn,, "I have to go in there!" It was a Monday, not busy in the shoppe. We browsed around, fascinated by the old country hardware cases, beautiful handmade blankets, iron pieces. Then the gem came on the other side of the building. The owner Jay. Lovely furniture for sale, indeed! There is something else there, though. Auras of instruments long forgotten surrounding the uber parts of the walls.Jay shared the history of each we asked about with passion in his beautiful voice. Obviously, we hope to be there again! O’Hurley’s General Store has created a marvelous Christmas Holiday Spirit in their shop, that can only be appreciated with an in-person visit. And, it’s NOT one of those “everything sparkles” kinds of experiences, but an Olde Tyme Christmas from the 1800s kind of experiences. The fireplace with a real fire. The real cut greens accenting the walls. The immense live trees. The soft (and appropriate) music. The Antique Sleigh. The period lighting. Exposed Olde World wood structure. And more!
