A Disheartening Betrayal: Parx Casino's Disappointing Demise. My friends know how much I love this area. I'm a proud local, always eager to show off the best of our community, and the Parx Casino has always been on that list. It was a place I'd proudly take out-of-town guests, a landmark I’d encourage them to visit, always promising them a great time. This past visit, however, wasn't just bad it was a truly disheartening experience that I won't soon forget. I brought a new friend here, someone I wanted to impress, someone who was hesitant but willing to trust me. The plan was simple: show him a good time, get him comfortable with the atmosphere, and maybe he'd even try a game. But we walked into a casino that felt less like a lively destination and more like an abandoned museum. We stood at the blackjack tables, where three dealers were huddled together in their own world. They were so engrossed in their personal conversations about their lives and clothes that they didn't even acknowledge us. No greeting, no eye contact, nothing. They were just... there. I tried to break through their bubble. I tried to ask about the games, how to get started, how to become a member, anything to get this friend of mine engaged. It was like talking to mannequins. They looked right through us, their backs turned, their voices loud enough to show they simply didn't care. It was a humiliating moment. I had hyped this place up so much, only to be met with total indifference. I couldn't even explain the rudeness to my friend, who simply assumed this was how casinos operated. I've been to many places, but I have never witnessed such a complete lack of professionalism. These "dealers" were just for show, a backdrop for their own private chatter. The casino would be better off with fake people or a digital assistant at least a machine would be programmed to engage. But the night's disappointment didn't stop there. We went to the restaurant area around 8:30 PM, hoping for a redeeming moment. The staff seemed annoyed by our presence. We were served a pizza that was burned to a crisp and as hard as a rock. They dropped the food on the table and vanished, leaving us with a charred dinner we had no choice but to eat. We had to chase someone down for a single glass of water for two people, which felt more like a chore than a service. Then, as we ate, the cleaning staff began dragging chairs and tables, a screeching, disruptive noise that forced us to rush through our meal. It was so early not even midnight and we were made to feel like we were a nuisance. This wasn't just a bad night out. It felt intentional. It felt like the management has deliberately hired people who don't want clients. Maybe this casino is just a front for something else, because they certainly aren't in the business of hospitality. I went there to make a great memory and left with nothing but regret. I'm telling you now: don't go. Save yourself the disappointment. This isn't the Parx I once knew. It's a hollow shell of what it could be, run by people who couldn't care less about the experience they are...
Read moreThe service at the restaurant is terrible. The restaurant was 35 to 40 percent full and there were at least 6 or more servers. For nearly 10 minutes the servers stood around talking to each other and walking past our table without saying a word. Another waitress had an angry scowl on her face the entire time and she at least let the lone handicapped man know eventually his server would come around. She scowled at us and looked at us repeatedly as she walked passed us. We did not get the "Your server will be with you shortly" speech, we were just invisible for 10 minutes. Finally our server and a trainee emerged to take our drink order. Later our waitress asked if we needed anything else halfway through our meal and while she saw us watching her, because it's an open concept and everything is visible at all times, she cleaned up a table, brought another table their check, checked them out, then took another tables order all before returning with my drink. There were no other patrons waiting, besides which there were at least 10 clean, empty tables so there was no reason for her to take 3 trips to clear the table and two more trips to wipe it down, before returning with my drink, but she did that first anyways. Food and prices were reasonable for a casino, but I would never go there again even if they paid me to endure the service. Worst experience of my life, at a restaurant, no exaggeration. Awful, awful service. They had terrible attitudes to accentuate the terrible service. Everyone looked like someone had smeared poo under their noses and made them smell it while they worked. The casino, though clean, pretty and smoke free, wasn't paying at all. Terrible first impression. Though its the closest casino for us to go to, we felt we will probably never go back. It's a bad omen when they refuse to be a little more liberal on payouts when they first open. Not one decent win or a single handpay to anyone the entire time...
Read moreThis evening my husband and I and some friends went into the casino for a little . Spent a few hours in the casino and decided it was time to head home. It was right around 10:20 pm . My husband decided he wanted a pizza to take home to eat . So we headed out of the casino and over the the resturant side . We checked to see what time they closed and the website says 11 pm , and there was a paper hanging on the sign before you walked into the resturant that said they closed at 11pm. So we walked in. We stood and waited for a min or so for a young girl to walk up and tell us the dining area was closed but we could sit at the bar , so my husband ask if we could just get a pizza to go , she said she would go back and ask. She came back up to us and said "no , he's not making anymore tonight " . We said OK, but we're very confused because the website and sign both said 11pm. So we walked back over to the casino to meet back up with our friends . As we walked back in the staff at the entrance greeted us and we told them we were just there but went to get food but were told they weren't making anything . A gentleman left and went over . Then a women ask us what had happened and we explained . We walked over and got our friends and as we were getting ready to exit , the lady stopped us again and ask if we were the ones that wanted to get food . We said yes, she then told us the gaming manager ( I think that's who she said he was ) was going over to find out what was going on and that we could get food. I then explained to her that there was no way I was haveing someone that just told me i couldnt get food , make me food .( I have seen what pissed of cooks can do to your food !!!!! ) . But it was only 10:20 . They had over 30 min before it was time to close . Needless to say , we left and did not get pizza . Not the kind of service I...
