Harbor Freight — Local services in Shreveport

I don't really shop here. When I go I have something picked out and a coupon in hand. I hate it when I buy something here and two weeks later it's on sale at 20% less than I just paid for it. Such is life. I recently found out that if you return anything that doesn't have a purchased protection plan you will be charged a 20% restocking fee. Pretty lame. But I guess if you peddle fringe-quality products you have to draw the line somewhere. So far all of the higher dollar things I have gotten here like automotive Jack's, an air compressor, 20 ton press, etc. have held up well and exceeded my expectations. But there will come a day when I go to return something THE NEXT DAY and only get 80% of my money back. That will probably be my last shopping experience with Harbor Freight. I only have one big dollar thing still new enough to consider taking back, but it's got a protection plan. I'll probably lose that receipt over the next 2...

We purchased a pump on February 22 from the Harbor freight tools store in Shreveport. We use the pump four times and it stopped working. On March 16 I called the store and spoke to Stephanie and she told me to bring the pump in and I could receive a credit. I drove over 35 miles to return the pump . When I arrived at the store I was told I had to call a toll free number for a credit. When I told her I had just called, she called her rude manager Erin who told me I had to call the toll-free number to return the pump.

The store was very eager to except my purchase money and now that I need to return the faulty merchandise I was sold, they’re not willing to help. I know why businesses like this go out of business, because they have terrible customer service.

I've shopped at Harbor Freight for years (in two different states) for my shop supplies, specialty consumables, and low to medium duty tools. Great value for the money, BUT, you must know quality and durability of tools to get maximum value. Some of their tool products can be disappointing and do not hold up to heavy long-term usage. Their Members Club is a good deal if you make fairly frequent purchases. The discounts with special member pricing can be substantial. I had it for a year and will renew. One of the best things about Harbor Freight is their friendly and engaging staff. The staff members are very helpful and seem to really care about their customers -- and that's based on personal interactions here in Louisiana and previously in Northern Illinois.
