I can't say enough good things about A Hidden Fortress, a gem among card shops in the area. My wife and I recently got into Pokemon this November and supply as many know has been bad and getting worse by the day, leading to most card shops in the area charging even more than scalper prices at times. A Hidden Fortress definitely has the fairest prices compared to many local shops in the Ventura county area. While some prices here for rarer product or out of print product is market, most in print stuff is MSRP or as close to it as they can reasonably get which we appreciate a ton. I especially like that crazy in demand stuff like prismatic or Journey Together is raffled at MSRP via discord instead of taking advantage of people like other LCS. For that alone they deserve 5 stars and I know I keep them in mind when we're hunting for product and want to support a local business. In speaking to Mike and his staff, you can tell everyone who works there is a TCG enthusiast of some sort, and even though everyone is not an expert on everything, most are knowledgeable and amazingly friendly as well. Have never had an issue getting help or with bad customer service. Play wise I know there is a lot of TCG events which I just haven't had time to attend unfortunately (but hopefully will be able to in the future) but there are always tables full of people playing whenever we come in. Reminds me a lot of the vibe Jon's Comics had in Oxnard back when I played Yugioh, no matter the time there was usually at least one other person you could find to play with. All this to say I think the shop is doing a great job and hope they keep up the good work and continue to prosper. Update: Some pics of the hits we got out of the Journey Together box we were able to get thanks to AHF. Thanks again for being one of our awesome LCS.

This place been around for several years, and I’ve already heard great things. We recently heard they began hosting Pokemon on Sundays here. We use to take our son to Ventura every Friday to a different location (not affiliated) but it got a little tough doing that drive. We’re so happy hidden fortress began hosting on Sundays, the game is only a 5min drive from us now. The turnout is great and there are many more kids that are around our sons age to play too.

Mike and the rest of the staff here at A Hidden Fortress are all awesome people and recently made sure that people had a chance to grab the new Pokemon set at MSRP. Great vibes all around and Mike has a great shop. If you’re in the area, stop by, you won’t regret it!

This is a copy of my Yelp review, im posting it here too. This took place years ago but I never spoke up about it.

A Hidden Fortress is a Card shop in Simi Valley, with a magic the gathering community that is exciting.

But thats where it ends. This store took advantage of me years ago, when I was new to the scene of MTG with my fathers collection in hand and a willingness and want to learn the game.

Rather than tell me that I had rare reserved list cards, including a Mishra's Workshop and other less valuable but still reserved cards, they said i was getting a great deal and that it would help me pay for drafts for the evening.

To whoever purchased my card without informing me, you should be ashamed of taking advantage of younger MTG players. You almost turned me away from the game after people explained to me what had happened about a year later.

If you have a collection, are new to MTG, or otherwise looking for an LGS that will RESPECT you? Go elsewhere. This isnt the place for you, they wont hesitate to make a dollar off of...

Amazing community, prices, and staff.

A Hidden Fortress has been around for decades and the staff is as great as ever. The shop is not run by people trying to make a quick buck on popular TCGs...they are passionate about the hobby and care about their customers. Make sure to join their Discord to get early access to releases as well as meet up information.

Regarding game nights, I only come for Pokemon but they have a great community for both adults and children. They also have several staff members who try to make it a great experience for kids by providing them with free decks, training, and goodies like tins. This also brings in other kids to join the league which means the kids can battle people of their own division/age group. They have told me they will be getting their official Pokemon league status soon - let's hope that goes through!

Definitely stop by. There isn't a more friendly (or better priced) card shop...
