Botticelli — Local services in Smithfield

I've been meaning to write this review for 11 years when I first stumbled on Botticelli's when they were on Mineral Spring Ave. In my hunt to find a wedding dress as a plus sized girl, it was a STRUGGLE. If you know.. you know..

I figured I'd try to go to Botticelli's as it was a small locally owned boutique that claimed to have wedding dresses and was strictly a plus size store. Well, they delivered. I said yes to the dress. I didn't have to settle for David's Bridal trying on either the size 26 or the size 6... It was amazing...

Fast forward to Wednesday this week. I had to run all the errands. We just got back from a two week vacation in Italy... I had to return things at Target, Amazon, pick up at Kohl's and home depot, get a few last minute school supplies, get new brakes... it was a day.

On my way home, I decided to just take a chance to pop in and see if Jan had any jeans... Like I'm sure many of you plus size gals have had the problem.. of your favorite jeans wearing thin in the inner thigh area... yeah, that happened. So I NEEDED jeans, because they were my everyday jeans.

Jan is always so welcoming and knows how to help. She and I have a similar personality, which I love. She's a straight shooter. I told her what I was coming in for and that I had about 15 minutes to shop. She started putting things in my fitting room and we caught up on life.

While I was there, there was a mother of the bride and grandmother of the bride who were in there looking for something for an upcoming October wedding. She doesn't have wedding dresses anymore, but does have a great selection of formal wear and also TONS of dresses for wedding guests. If you have wedding to go to, you should really stop by! I wasn't in the market for a dress, but had I been, I totally would've struck gold! Most of the summer things were marked 50% off as well!

BRAS- Umm.. ALL OF US ARE WEARING THE WRONG SIZE! A mom came in with her teenage son and was a little embarrassed, saying, "I need a new bra." Jan made her bra fitting so easy! The three of us were talking through the dressing room the whole time. She walked out of there wearing her new bra feeling like a million bucks. I think there might be a bra burning in that woman's future!!!!

VIP Program - If you know me... you know I'm always up for a good deal. Jan just launched a new VIP Program. I guess the deal is $50/month that gets credited toward yourself... so it just gives you some money to play with... then you have early access to all the new clothes and gift shop items. If you join right now (this month) there's a $25 bonus! YES, PLEASE! So... I signed up... Jan took that off my purchase and I used my VIP Rewards on Wednesday as well.

There are not many plus size stores around... shopping online sucks... It's a crap shoot. Botticelli's has something for all ages... her items are high quality, not cheap Shein clothes. They are timeless and meant to last... and I found 2 pairs of jeans.. and a new top!

Wow! Walking into this store, I was immediately greeted with a smile and friendly hello. (A rarity these days & thus speaks volumes about Jan,the owner of this store!) I have never been made to feel so comfortable so quickly anywhere! Came here for a graduation dress and left with two dresses, two bras (Mind you, they sell Elomi bras! For large chested ladies no less!! Not just that, they sell bras for large chested ladies with smaller band sizes as well!) I hit the mother load coming here. Ladies, honestly, if you live anywhere in MA/RI & are a size 14+ THIS is the place to be! All her clothes are contemporary, but not teeny bopper like, and classy. Bonus, they look wonderful on and flatter the fuller sized females! Double bonus, Jan. I swear I want her to be my new best friend. (Trust me, go here and you will understand why! Amazing woman!) Leaving Botticelli I was walking on air, felt like a had a successful day clothes shopping, which we all know are few and far between. This is where I will come for all my clothes going forward. She has everything from fancy gowns to tank tops. Can't wait to do my fall shopping. Almost forgot to mention that many of the items are available online to buy through the store as well. Plus, Jan is a wizard with bra fittings to boot. (Is there anything she can't do?) Seriously, all you bodacious babes of all ages,...

I went to this store with high hopes and which came highly recommended from some of my clients.. I was hoping my mom would have a good experience, trying to find her dress for my wedding… However, the owner helped us. She was nothing but rude, condescending, making statements that were inappropriate which made us feel very uncomfortable and she couldn’t care less whether she got our business or not .. She made comments about wanting a stronger economy , maybe if you at least pretend you care , you would get more business and you wouldn’t have to worry about your business.. She is not shy on her prices which you can get the same ones on Amazon for half the price . Being in a customer service business myself, I could never get away with treating /talking to a customer in that fashion… Not sure, who’s leaving these great reviews must be family members of friends… But our time and experience at her store was nothing but awful and I will never recommend this store to anyone going forward .. She also made mention that she’s the only gig in town, However, I don’t care that you’re the only one in town that sells dresses… At the end of the day, It’s all about how you treat a customer . Whatever happen to “the customer is always right “...
