Big Lots — Local services in Smyrna

Definitely a weird experience here. First, I was asking an employee to help me look at an item in the outdoor patio section, and as we were talking about his work day, the manager following behind us said “don’t do it”. Not sure why he did not want the employee to converse with me. Secondly, I was looking at this gazebo and I was told it was out of stock. I was also told I was not allowed to have the display. Mind you, I had already called around multiple locations beforehand and they all told me there will not be any restocks on this item. ALL locations I called had in fact sold their display. Meanwhile, this employee is telling me they have more in stock on the way.. which I assume is not true as all other locations said otherwise. Apparently, it is the managers discretion if they want to sell display items.. very weird that Big Lots would allow their location to lose well over 2,000 dollars and a new credit card applicant. Surely it was because the manager was not willing to disassemble.. either way his demeanor was a bit unsettling and I’m curious what the employees would have to say about his leadership. With this type of customer service, I imagine Big Lots will be the next store going out of business. But hey! At least they will have that...

I love the item selections. I had one problem. It was the cashier; she didn't ask me for my reward number during check out and as I was helping my mother the cashier assisted about 5 more customers and asked them if they had an reward number. I asked why she didn't ask if I had a reward number. Of course she claimed she did ask me. But clearly she didn't ask, because I didn't answer and clearly if I can hear you asking other customers I would have hear you during my check out. They have Christmas 50%-75% off, always a good 👍🏾 👌🏽 buy. We were grabbing a lot of stuff. The young lady that wasn't checking us out stayed, and she watched as if we were up to something. The funny part about it is the young lady who checked us out she was a white lady & I didn't get that from her it was the African American lady watching. I have an event business so we always love these sales &always buy in bulk or shopping cart full. Let me speak to the people in the back. Not all African American ppl are broke.
