My recent visit to GameStop left me with mixed feelings, as the experience offered a blend of disappointments and pleasant surprises.
As an enthusiast of PC gaming, I was initially disappointed by the limited selection of PC games and accessories available at the store. GameStop predominantly caters to console gamers, and as such, I struggled to find the PC-related items I was seeking. This aspect of the visit fell short of my expectations, highlighting the store's focus on console gaming over other platforms.
However, amidst my search for PC products, I stumbled upon a pleasant surprise in the form of anime items. GameStop had a collection of anime merchandise, including cool anime shirts featuring beloved characters like Naruto and Sasuke. The availability of these items added a unique flair to the store's offerings and provided an unexpected opportunity to indulge in my love for anime.
In terms of customer service, my experience was relatively decent. While not exceptional, the staff was courteous and helpful when approached for assistance.
Overall, GameStop offers a mixed shopping experience, with strengths and weaknesses that cater to different interests. While the lack of PC gaming options may deter some customers, the presence of anime merchandise and decent customer service can still make it worth a visit, especially for fans of console gaming and...
Read moreBoth Gamestop locations in Smyrna are generally great. As are nearly all the associates so no complait on them. This one now has a new (?) manager named Carlos with the absolute worst customer service. Me my son and a friend who walked in who he apparently had no idea walked in with us decided it was okay to say "I wish customers could read" after walking away from a misplaced product he couldn't clean up after since talking to friends is more important then customer service. My same friend who heard this was buying a game. Hence why he was comfortable saying this and didnt think it was going to be acknowledged.
The same manager decided to shove the game in his face and say nothing. The misplaced product is fine. I understand that,it's retail. But the idea it's okay to treat/talk to customers this way is...
Read moreGameStop in Smyrna TN or any location in the world. The manager at this location in 2025 is typical underpaid employee to a public traded company. GameStop in Smyrna only 5 miles from this location closed in 2024 due to poor sales. Sadly that location was 1/2 mile from Nissan of North Amercia. Raising prices on normal easy to get items from a ton of other retailers is just plain dumb. Greed will collapse your business model. Pokémon will not keep your doors open long term. Your rep at the Dallas Card show purchased all PSA slabs graded 8 and up for your overpriced trash mystery packs. Shame on you working for this dying retailer and best of luck...
