It’s been years since I’ve needed to go to an ER. Unfortunately, on 11.20.24, I was having severe pain in my lower abdomen and passed out on the toilet at home so I went to the ER. I was called back and put on an EKG machine immediately. I had a fast heartbeat in 2015 so they felt that was necessary even though I wasn't having those issues currently. My vitals were never taken during pre-admission. I was in a room for about 40 minutes before my vitals were taken. I had mentioned that my blood pressure was high but they didn’t seem too concerned.
DR. DIMITRIOS MOUGOLIAS, walked in, pressed on my stomach and said, “from your symptoms, it sounds like you have some stomach pain that sounds like the stomach flu, so we’re gonna get you some fluids and get you home.” He never asked me what was really going on, he didn’t even know my blood pressure was high until my daughter told him. Once she said that, he said, “oh I didn’t see that, we can get her something for that too.” So my daughter said, “so a stomach flu will make her pass out on the toilet?” He proceeded to say “Passing out on the toilet is normal. I know a lot of people pass out while peeing.” THAT IS NOT NORMAL SIR. He blew it off and walked out. I couldn’t believe how dismissive he was. I don’t like confrontation so I let it go. While he was out of the room, I began to bleed severely from my bowels every 15 minutes. I knew this wasn’t a stomach flu. When he came back, we showed him the blood in the toilet and once again, he was dismissive. “That doesn’t look too bad, it looks fleshy.” He said. I began to cry and he said that I would be fine. I said can we please find out what’s causing me to bleed, I know this isn’t normal. He said “A CT scan will take too long to do but if that’s what you want I guess we can do that but you are gonna be here for the next 4 hours waiting for results.” My daughter then said, “we can go somewhere else mom.” He then scoffed at her and said “What did you say? You’ll go somewhere else? Ok then.” and proceeded to laugh sarcastically. It was such weird behavior from a doctor. At that point I addressed him and said “just because this is “normal” for you, doesn't mean it's normal for me and you’ve been nothing but rude and dismissive.” He said “I’m from Jersey and I am showing my confidence in my responses to you.” I said “well you can be confident and empathetic and I definitely don’t feel any of that from you.” I was never mean to him or rude in any such manner. I tried to keep my composure while still standing up for myself. I asked him to please do the CT because what I was feeling wasn’t a stomach flu and I know my body. He said “if that’s what you want, fine. You’ll have to wait.” I waited regardless of his tone because the pain was getting worse. They took me back for the CT and it was done in 15 minutes. I waited 4 hours for the results and only received them because my nurse followed up. It turned out my intestines were severely inflamed and I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis – possibly Chrones Disease. I needed to see a specialist.
HE WAS WRONG and if it wasn’t for me advocating for myself I would have been in a much more serious situation. I received the prescriptions I needed to begin to heal and checked out. When we walked out of the room, DR. DIMITRIOS MOUGOLIAS was sitting back in a chair at the nurses' desk with his feet propped up on top of the desk, reading a book or something. Never looked up. He was unprofessional and had the worse bedside manner I've ever experienced. I will NEVER go to this emergency room again. And the only reason I will give this a two star rating is because the nurses that took care of me that evening were kind and helpful and for that...
Read moreDo not waste your time and your health, and most certainly your life by going to Stonecrest ER! If I could give this ER 0 stars I would. Last Thursday morning I received a phone call from an ER nurse stating they had some lab test results come back from my visit on May 14 and they were calling to say I needed to return to the ER to be admitted for IV antibiotics and was in danger of being septic. Imagine my surprise bc I had not been to Stonecrest ER on May 14 or anywhere near this time span. The nurse went back and forth saying yes I had been in their ER and my lab results were back. She got impatient and frustrated with me after I kept repeating and protesting that I had not, in fact, been in their ER. Then all of a sudden it hit me: THEY WERE CALLING ABOUT TEST RESULTS FROM MY VISIT ON MAY 14, 2023! A whole year ago! What is even more baffling and disturbing to me, is that a year ago, why did I NOT receive this call then?! How can their record system and calling patients over serious health issues be a year behind?! Why did I NOT receive this call a year ago?! This is not the first time Stonecrest ER and Stoncrest Hospital in general, have dropped the ball. This has happened 4 times now with improper and negligent care just towards myself and I have every record to prove it. Stonecrest is putting peoples lives in danger and are neglectful. Bc there is no excuse whatsoever at all, that I should be getting a call a YEAR later that I needed to be hospitalized. Where was this call when I was sick as hell and sent home bc it was supposedly some “viral infection” and didn’t need treatment?! And then they call a year later?! This is why I refuse to ever return to Stonecrest, will warn everyone I can about their unethical and negligent treatment, and will be looking into this legally. THERE IS NOT ONE GOOD EXCUSE THIS ER CAN GIVE WHY THEY CALLED ME A YEAR LATER AND NOT LAST YEAR WHEN I SOUGHT TREATMENT, WAS SENT HOME, and EVIDENTLY NEEDED TO BE ADMITTED. Thanks Stonecrest for proving how horribly and poorly your facility is run. I know I am not the only patient with these types of complaints, but I will be the one to finally do...
Read moreI arrived in the ER at 10:30 PM on April 9, 2025. I was finally put back into a room at approximately 11:30 PM. They did their assessment and said that I would require a CT scan. I had the scan at 0200 on the 10th. They were upfront and told me that it would take two hours to read my scan. The gentleman who took me back for my scan told me that there were 12 people ahead of me, waiting for theirs to be read. What I did not know, was that the radiologist or the person responsible for reading the scan was at another location and not on site at the hospital. This is done remotely. The system that they use to transfer the scans to these people went down. This resulted in a delay. It was approximately 1 PM on April 10th before my results came in. At this point I had been sitting in the emergency room for approximately 13 hours continuously telling them that my pain level was a nine out of 10. I do not feel that they took that into consideration at all. During this entire time I was restricted from food or water. I understand that that had to be withheld until they received my results from my CT. Nevertheless, there is no doubt in my mind that this delay in care led to my worsening condition and I subsequently was admitted to the hospital where I stayed until April 12. There were approximately 13 hours that I could have been receiving medication for my condition. The charge nurse finally came in and explained the delay. The problem was is there was no communication. Nobody was explaining to me why it was taking so long to get my results in. The COO came in to explain about emergent cases coming in since myself their priority over me because of their higher severity of illness. But keep in mind, they did not know what my diagnosis was at this point. So how did they know the severity of what I had. All in all, it was hands-down the absolute worst experience I’ve ever had at this hospital’s emergency room. Luckily, once I was admitted to the fourth floor, the nurses and staff took great care of me and were stellar. It is only because of them, I’m not filing a...
