Island Sun Tanning Somers Point — Local services in Somers Point

I’ve been to many tanning salons over the years, and unfortunately, this was by far the worst experience I’ve had. The salon felt neglected and poorly maintained. They advertise hair and nail services, which they do not actually provide, and there are serious issues with security—my lotion was stolen from the back area.

The tanning beds themselves are ineffective and did not provide any noticeable color, even after consistent use. Additionally, there was a time limit I was unaware of, and because I didn’t end up using the bed during my session, I asked to reschedule—but was told I couldn’t tan again or receive a refund, even though I never actually used the service.

The staff was unhelpful and extremely rude. The manager, or the individual acting as one, was especially unprofessional and dismissive. The woman with black hair was incredibly disrespectful, and overall, the team displayed poor customer service and a negative attitude. To make matters worse, the tanning beds were not properly cleaned or maintained.

I was very disappointed with Island Sun Tanning. When I saw the sign for the place, it said "hair and nails." I really needed a nail appointment, so I was excited. I went in there and asked for a nail appointment. When I asked, they told me that they did not do nails. I was confused. They sign clearly stated that this was also a nail salon. In my opinion, there should not be a sign that falsely advertises this store. The whole experience was a bust. I walk out of the tanning salon, feeling nothing but disappointed. If I were in charge, I would take down that sign right away in order to not mislead valuable customers like me. Maybe the tanning might be good, but it would be better if the sign out front was actually correct. Overall, I would rate this place a 2/10....

One side the bulbs were out in the booth I tanned in. I asked for a credit for one tanning session. I arrived 2 days later and the bulbs are still out. When I asked about the credit I was informed that the manager said no credit was to be extended to me. Three people in my family have used this salon regularly for many years.
