Worst shopping experience of my life. I would give them zero stars if possible. I reviewed them previously and gave them one star, but that review has been deleted. We will try two stars, even though they really do not deserve it. People need to know about my awful experience.
I recieved a gift certificate for Belk for my birthday so I went online to see what they had to offer. I downloaded the app, and signed up for the emails to get and extra percent off my purchase. I searched for 2 days to find the item I wanted. I decided on a pair of Converse shoes.
Online it told me that they dont carry them in my local store. I would have gone in the local store to try on the correct size. Since that was not an option I trudged on. The app was very unhelpful. For those particular shoes they only list the men's sizes. Having ordered men's shoes in the past I knew what size I should be so I ordered those. I didnt receive my discount for signing up for the emails until after I made my purchase 2 days after I signed up! I waited 10 days for these shoes to arrive, shipping was supposed to be 2 days. When they arrived they were about an inch and a half to large!
I went into my local Belk to return them. The lady in the shoe department helped me do that. We started the process to order a new shoe and she couldn't help me choose the correct size only told me that Converse run large. So we ordered a different size guessing a size and hoped for the best. She said worst case scenario if they were still too large we would send them back again and reorder. I asked how long for these to arrive and she said probably another 10 days.
Frustrated but feeling that I had no other options I left. I started driving back to work and decided on a whim to stop at a different shoe store that has Converse to try on. I did so and found that I needed a different size than what we had ordered. I immediately called Belk to cancel my order 30 min after it was placed. I was told Belk has a 15min window to cancel orders. I was out of luck. I would have to wait for my shoes to arrive.
Thinking this couldn't be true, I called the main customer service number. I have never heard of such a thing. I was 15 min too late to cancel my order. The lady at the customer service center said that was correct. I was out of luck. I explained my experience to her and she was stunned my shoes took 10 days to arrive. She assured me I would have my shoes in 2 days. Feeling very let down I hung up and waited for the shoes.
8 days later they arrived. They are too big but just barely. I ended up keeping the shoes once they arrived not wishing to deal with Belk ever again. I will never return to their store, I will tell everyone I know about this awful experience to hopefully save them from a similar experience. Go anywhere else to...
Read moreOn Tuesday, December 17, 2024, my husband and I went into Belk at the Somerset Mall. I was in search of a shirt to wear under some overalls that I had recently purchased. We walked around and looked, but found nothing. My husband had picked up a pack of socks and ask me if I like them and I told him that I didn't need more socks, so he laid them on a random table. We walked around a little more, then decided to leave when I couldn't find what I was looking for. As we were about to exit the store, a man walked up behind us and ask if we were going to pay for the socks in my husband's coat. We both turned around, shocked and my husband ask him if he was talking about the ones that he laid on the back table, to which he called my husband a liar and says that he has him on camera. There were words and profanities exchanged between my husband and the man, before we all walked back through the store. My husband told him that once he found the socks on the back table that he was going to apologize and the gentleman (he works for Belk as loss prevention) replies, "I ain't doing a damn thing!" I at that point told him that if he is proven wrong, then the least he could do is apologize, especially if he is going to accuse someone of stealing. Once, we reached the back of the store, my husband stopped several feet away from the table, just to be sure that he wasn't accused of taking them from his coat and placing them there. The socks were exactly where my husband said that he left them! No apology or anything was issued, but were instead threatened with law enforcement bc my husband was "agitated and becoming irrate" due to just being accused of stealing. We were ask to leave the store, which we were already doing when we approached and my husband was accused of stealing in the first place. I am sorry that we didn't look rich enough or classy enough to be in Belk, so no worries, my money and business will NEVER be...
Read moreAlways reminds me of being a child and staying with my Nan... and not the parts where she made me spaghetti and we watched the Atlanta Braves dominate in the mid-late 90's. No it more reminds me of staying with her and having her older friends come over. They were all so desperate to appear entertaining and full of spunk despite the fact that they were all born pre ww2! They were super sweet ladies and I got a mother load of hard candy when they'd come ( mmmm, Worthers Original) but her friends were stuffy and matter of fact and came over at noon and left to go nap by 3 or 4 pm. What I'm saying is Belk is like my grandmother's homegirl... It's stuff, uptight and very run of the mill but it has a good heart and carries around a pocket full...
