Our family of 5 loves this little place! Everybody runs around the store filling up thier hand baskets! I like the bars of soap, fresh fruits and sometimes exotic fruits, their cold mini cans of coffee with many flavors and I have to buy atleast 20-25 cans for the entire family, Jasmine rice, and my ultimate favorite the "salted dry plums"! I sneak to grab a few bags of those salty dry plums when my family don't know!! Hee! Hee! They're addicting! I can't forgot about our turtles! Wong Kai offers fresh herbs by the handfuls for cheap that our turtles go nuts for! I have made gift boxes for my father in Pennsylvania of all different type of snacks and he loves "hot" snacks! He eats the entire box and thanks me several times! That cool gift isn't expensive at all to buy and send it from the Post Office right up the street because its usually light stuff anyway! Don't forget to ask for a free calendar at checkout! They are really pretty and it's hard to choose from the selections! I think they have a minimum purchase price to get one but it doesn't hurt to ask anyway! Even if you go there to browse you should take the time because everything is interesting and I look at everything myself everytime I go! The products have a quick shelf life as in Everything is gone! The owner and the relatives stock them back up just as fast! If you have some time to spare and just browse I bet you go back again with a friend or loved one! There isn't another store like this one in the area! I feel the prices have gone up from when they opened 30+ years ago but they don't take advantage in cranking up the prices like most specialty stores do! Thank you Wong Kia! Your faithful customer! Double...
Read moreVisited this place a few days ago and it's very small and quaint. Maybe a little over a 1000 sqft. The women working there were very nice. We're used to the size and variety available @ MD's and Oceanic in Tampa, so there wasn't as much fresh produce as I had hoped, but it still had a good selection of other goods, and some smaller unique items that I'd never seen anywhere else; like containers of black garlic, which are a popular cooking thing right now. If you're in a quick fix and need just a couple staples for Asian cuisine this is a great little store. If you're looking for a large variety or lots of fresh produce you might stick to the bigger stores. Still cute and worth dropping in if...
Read moreMy desire to cook more cultural dishes has been increasing linearly with my frequency of visits to this Asian grocery store, especially because I can always find what I'm looking for! Orange fish roe to top homemade sushi or shu mai, Vietnamese pork sausage loaf for adorning bowls of bun bo hue, fresh Thai basil and bean sprouts for pho, or boba to create your own bubble tea at home - the selection really is impressive. Oftentimes I get inspired to cook something new by seeing an ingredient that I wasn't originally looking for. Ask any employee about what you need, and they'll be more than...
