I found this place via Google maps for Vietnamese cuisine. My wife was craving some food from her homeland (Vietnam) but... Her craving is certainly not satisfied. This place is not Vietnamese and while it may have been being Vietnamese in the past today it is not run by Asian people at all and the food is not at all Asian. We ordered Pho Thai Bo Vien and Com Dac Biet along with chicken fried rice... When I went in to pick up the food I realized that the people running the restaurant where Hispanic and could not even pronounce the name of the dish. They were not even sure which containers go with each dish.. So I became wary of what I ordered and if it would be anything like the actual Vietnamese dishes they claimed it to be. The name on the receipt was Sushi + Pho rather than the name of this restaurant. Their website doesn't have a concrete name either...
The soup broth was a combination of basically every type of broth made in Vietnam (Hu Tieu + Pho + Bom Ba Wei)... while their combo broth tastes decent the actual soup is not Vietnamese.
The rice platters are literally just white rice with an egg and some meat set on top... The chicken rice platter was stir fried chicken strips with some sort of Asian seasoning (not Vietnamese) set on top of the rice... And the com Dac Biet (combo rice platter) was literally braised short ribs with the same marinade set on top of white rice...
Lastly we got Boba tea from them and the Boba is like rubber... I've never experience Boba like this and we have had various teas from different Vietnamese places.
Don't be deceived by this place Vietnamese "cuisine" because nothing is Vietnamese at all.. From the pictures here on maps; this place was probably started and run by Vietnamese people originally as the food in the pictures looked as it should based on the dishes they claimed. However it's not the case now. They should either hire some actual Vietnamese people or rebrand the restaurant to whatever they actually know how to make.
Edit; owner thinks I discriminated against them but they clearly can't read or write. This is not an Asian restaurant by any means. It's very sad to see them play the race card instead of owning up to...
Read moreWalked in at 5:30pm on a Saturday and the place was dead. An older man in a chef hat greeted my boyfriend and I. We said we noticed on the window they make Boba smoothies and we would like to see their selection. We live only minutes away and were so excited to find a place so close that sells honeydew boba smoothies! We order 2 and he immediately tells us its $8.04 without even ringing us up. I reach in my wallet and go to hand him my debit card. He states no cards under 10 dollars and suggests we order some food. My boyfriend gladly looks at the menu and chooses a soup. The man replies the kitchen won't be open for another hour or so. At that point I'm upset so I say we might be back later and start to walk out. The man yells I can use my card to come back! Obviously they can take my card he just didn't want to! I pay for the smoothies and he and a younger man goes to the back to make them. We sit and wait as the old guy stands and stares at us the entire time. The younger guy brings us our drinks and we head out. That's when we notice the bobas aren't even fully plump. Very hard and chewy. Like they were just dropped in our drinks without even sitting to get swollen properly. We are huge fans of honeydew boba smoothies and this place based on what we got in service and quality just lost two repeat customers. It was obvious for some reason or another they didn't want to serve us and they only wanted cash, not...
Read moreWhat a fantastic find! Had lunch there with some appetizers and it was nothing short of incredible. The place itself is small and has a low-key feel to it. It was completely clean and well taken care of that we noticed. The flavors of the beef soup with flank and the veggie soup were honestly freshhhh! I couldn't stop mentioning how very fresh the foot tasted. The egg rolls we ate were also of good quality - not the typical stuff you'd find ordering out. The dish itself had us very satisfied full. I finished it off with a Durian shake - which was also delish! One thing I didn't care about the shake was the gummy things in the bottom- no flavor to them. The shake itself was great though. Was on the way to Ellenton Mall and randomly found this place to be most convenient... I will MOST DEFINITELY be stopping in there again. What a...
