First time coming to this card shop (came for their Union Arena Super Prerelease tournament on 9/2/2024) and wanted to share my honest opinion on things.
The only real negative I have is that the parking situation isn't the best since there isn't a parking lot designated for the store, but if you can park in the Best Market lot (until 10pm I believe, be sure to move your car before 10 or you might get locked in!) or in the super narrow residential street behind them (San Antonio Ave), then you're good! If you're lucky, you might even find a spot on the street near the store.
With the negatives out of the way, despite driving over an hour to get here due to traffic, everyone there was very welcoming and happy to help out anyone and everyone, regardless of if they were local or not. The prices were very affordable too. I played in a few different Super Prerelease events, and they were the cheapest location I went to by FAR. I feel like they prioritize the players rather than seeing how much money they can make off of the events.
Regarding some of the people who had a negative review with this event in particular: many stores had issues with this event, and the majority of the ones I went to and/or talked to did base things off of first come first serve, just like they did. While it is very unfortunate that they were unable to go off of the Bandai app, it's still [1] the very first Union Arena event (albeit not the first Bandai TCG event) where it's hard to gauge interest from actual players who are willing to attend. Even then, most places had maybe half of the first 16 sign ups actually show up, which added to the difficulty. [2] They were unable to adjust the description once sign ups had began, so the only way they could inform people are by social media or phone calls. I don't believe there is any way to contact those who RSVPed through the Bandai app. [3] I think it's in our (the players) best interest to double check with the corresponding stores to see what their policies are, because some places required an earlier check in time prior to the actual start time. Calling the store before hand and/or checking their social media for updates is something I highly recommend for any player since each store does things differently.
Apologies for the long review, but I'd rather be thorough and give my honest opinions when it comes to these. In the end, I would highly recommend this location. A casual environment where you can feel welcome, with staff and players happy to help out. While it is a bit of a drive for me, this is a location that I will likely be back to for...
Read moreHad a slight late night craving for cards and stumbled into this little gem. Met the owner, super cool and nice, even the customer base that was there were nice. I am not the most social but the atmosphere everyone brought was friendly, not toxic at all. So I picked up a few cards, it is a new shop I know the stock is just coming in, however, there were plenty of cards and packs to choose from. Looks like they host mainly DragonBall and yu-gi-oh. Overall, its a nice quaint spot for a quick stop, few matches, and the late night gaming. What time is it?...It is always...
Read moreThis cardshop is honestly super chill, the ambiance is welcoming. A few friends and I visited this place in search of a new local home, and we struck gold! The fellas running the shop are really cool and communicative! They made us feel at home and even inquired on the card game we were playing (Weiss Schwarz) and offered to teach us some DBZ. I highly recommend checking this spot out! It's small but cozy, we had a positive experience overall! We will be...
