A Decent Market, But Leaves Much to Be Desired
This produce market is just fine nothing exceptional, and certainly not a place Iād go out of my way to recommend. The selection is average and fresh, but nothing stands out. That said, Iāll admit my standards are shaped by growing up well north of here, where places like Snowgoose Produce near La Conner set the bar incredibly high. Compared to that, this spot feels underwhelming.
The real issue, however, is the inaccuracy of their posted business hours. Itās frustrating to make the drive especially in the late afternoon around 3:30 or 4:00, only to find the place unexpectedly closed. For a small business, maintaining correct hours on platforms like Google is the bare minimum. Itās not just about convenience; itās about respecting your customersā time.
As a business executive at a local Washington company, I take pride in supporting small and local businesses. But experiences like this make it clear why large chains continue to dominate they prioritize consistency and reliable customer experience. If small businesses want to compete, attention to detail and basic communication like accurate hours of operation shouldnāt be overlooked.
I genuinely want to support local, but I also expect a level of professionalism in return. Hopefully, this is something the owners will...

ā 1-Star Review I had an extremely disappointing experience at Red Barn Market in Puyallup. I went there with my friend, who is white, and Iām Black. We picked out some items and stood in line just like everyone else. But when it was time to pay, I was told they couldnāt sell me anything because they didnāt have change.
What made it worse was that they said theyād need to go ask the manager just to approve selling to me. My friend was not treated this way, and the difference in how I was spoken to and treated was very noticeable. I felt disrespected and singled out for no valid reason.
No one should ever be made to feel like they donāt belong somewhere based on who they are. It was an uncomfortable and upsetting experience, and I hope the business takes a serious look at how they treat all of their customers. The other thing is the ladies at the counter looked shocked and surprised to see a blank person coming in almost jumping am like in this era really and I didnāt pay attention but later it registered why that look anyone of my colour donāt...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWonderful experience! This place has loads of fresh local fruits, vegetables, and plants. You can tell a lot of thought and care has gone into this place. Itās clean, well stocked, and well staffed. Everything is clearly labeled. We were pointed to a selection of free fruits for our 3 year old to munch on while we shopped. They have a little playground tucked under a tree with a little free library and a dog waste station AND picnic tables. At every opportunity, Red Barn Market & Nursery invests in a wholesome experience for the community, even when it doesnāt directly turn a profit. Iām kicking myself for driving past...
