I want to start off by mentioning I have never provided a review on an establishment before; however, after my experience at Blue Granite today, I felt compelled to do so. My two sons ages 8 and 12 have shown a recent interest in learning to climb. I took them to Blue Granite on a Saturday at around 10am and was immediately greeted by a very professional young man (Ivan) at the front desk. Ivan welcomed my family and I and squared my boys away with some climbing shoes and harnesses. We were provided a tour of the beautiful facility and given a very thorough introduction to safety and climbing. It was not long and my boys were literally climbing all over the walls in the gym. The facility was exceptionally clean and the other patrons were friendly and helpful to my boys. Our day pass afforded us the opportunity to leave for a few hours and return at our leisure. We left for lunch and visited family in West Shore then returned the same evening for more climbing as the boys couldn't get enough! We live in Pollock Pines and will definitely be back to attend more classes to better our knowledge in safe climbing practices with hopes to take this outdoors during the spring and summer months. Thank you to Ivan and the Blue Granite team for such a memorable experience.

Had my son's birthday party here. Super fun! Zach and Corey were fantastic with the kids. All the kids, at different climbing levels, had a great time. Thanks, Blue Granite! I highly recommend the gym and its staff. Also wanted to update my review: I also want to highlight how incredibly supportive this gym is of the Tahoe community. They go above and beyond—helping fundraise for youth who might not always be able to afford climbing, hosting nights for those with adaptive needs, and giving back in so many ways. It's really impressive to see a business so committed to making climbing accessible and welcoming for everyone.

Cool climbing gym! The front desk guy gave us a tour and explained everything thoroughly. It was my first time climbing and I had a good experience. Totally recommend for anyone who wants to try this out if you haven't it's an experience. I believe I remember it totaling up to about $60 or so for an adult and child. We had to borrow the shoes and gear so if you have that it would be cheaper. Either way I think it's worth the stop for some memories. (:

Bouldering section: 4/5 Rope Section: 4/5 Staff: 3/5 Safety: -69/5

The gym was extremely understaffed, but the whole layout was really cozy and had some overall good setting. I’ve been climbing for 5 years and have visited gyms in different countries and a majority of the US. This is the ONLY gym I have ever seen neglecting safety of boulders on every level imaginable. The way the bouldering section is designed is immediately set up for injury. The major and biggest flaw that should be addressed IMMEDIATELY are the large gaps in the crash pads on the gym. I finished my climb and fell from the top of the wall and my entire leg fell sideways into the crack of the pad, fracturing my right tibia, putting me out of climb for the months to come. Again I have been climbing for years and have visited over 50+ different gyms, not a single one had empty unprotected gaps IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MATT. This is absurd and should be fixed immediately to prevent any future injuries. Despite the lack of safety, this gym is...

SHAME on you, Blue Granite. I called ready to pay for the discounted 30-day membership at $55 today in order to exercise before my full-time job due to the smoke, and not only was I treated extremely poorly by your very inept and incompetent “front desk manager,” Henry, I was also told I couldn’t pro-rate 10 of my 30 days due to the fact that I would be flying out of state for 10 days in that bracket. I wasn’t even ASKING for a discount, just some calendar flexibility. Sorry not sorry, but in the world of small local community businesses, you should be more flexible to the needs of your established local residents.

Reprehensible way to treat your community members, I will be taking my...
