TLDR: Attempted to return an unopened, $300 item (that was purchased in error) less than 2 hours after purchasing it, and was denied and treated very poorly.
I am writing this review to detail the experience I endured last week at this store. I am new to Magic The Gathering, but I have friends who play it, and after learning that cards based on one of favorite franchises (Final Fantasy) were being produced and had released- I eagerly went to buy some so that I could begin playing. The cashier I spoke to was pleasant and informed me that they were in stock. I looked to see what was available, and saw that there were both an $80 dollar option and a $300 option depicting the same character. I naively assumed that the more expensive option labeled ācollector boxā must have had many more cards considering the price difference. Thusly I purchased it, with no explanation of what I was purchasing or mentioning of any store policies from the cashier. An hour and a half later after looking online, I learned that this item contained the same amount of cards as the standard deck, just covered in shiny foil. I called the store to inquire about returning the unopened, brand new item and explained what had happened. The manager then stated that all sales were final, that it was my fault for not understanding what the item was, and that āfair is fair.ā I explained that I intended to purchase the standard version and additional cards from his store upon learning what they actually were, however he was staunchly inflexible. Frankly, the entire interaction felt very sarcastic, dispassionate, and frankly unkind. There was no transparency in the policies of the store, and no explanation given to mess to what items were. I was forced to sell the cards online to recuperate a portion of the $300 I purchased them for. I will not be returning to this store, and have advised others not to shop or play there either....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIām sharing my personal experience for anyone considering becoming part of this storeās community.
For a long time, I was a regular customer and active participant in events. I invested a lot of time, energy, and goodwill because I believed this was a welcoming environment. Unfortunately, everything changed after I was physically threatened by another patron.
After that incident, rather than support or resolution, I noticed a complete halt to the events I used to enjoy. Over time, I felt increasingly more excluded ā conversations grew colder, invitations stopped, and what once felt like a second home became an isolating environment.
When I respectfully asked why things had changed, I wasnāt met with clear answers. Instead, I was told that everything was fine, despite obvious changes. From my perspective, this was a form of gaslighting ā and gaslighting doesnāt fix behavior; it only hides it.
Itās incredibly disappointing to invest so much into a community only to feel unsupported when serious concerns arise. In my experience, concerns here were not addressed ā they were minimized or dismissed.
I want to be clear: This review is not written out of spite or anger. Itās written as guidance for anyone looking for a true community ā a place where safety, respect, and communication are prioritized. Based on my experience, I encourage others to be cautious and seek out spaces where they will be genuinely welcomed and supported.
This reflects my honest personal experience, and I hope it helps others make an...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUnfortunately, this was a very poor first experience.
I walked in, and the store was empty except for a group of men sitting at a table in the middle of the store.
I said "Excuse me guys, Do one of you run this business?"
They all gave me a very angry glare, I assume they weren't happy that I interrupted them. But I didn't see anyone else in the store, or behind the counter.
One guy, obviously annoyed with me, asked what I needed.
I explained I wanted a sealed booster box of Spider Man MTG.
He then told me there was a girl behind the counter that could help me.
I looked over and saw her, behind the counter, but far back in the corner, BEHIND where you walk into the store.
Then, as my buddy and I proceeded to purchase. We heard all of them behind us, mocking us for not being able to notice the cashier.
The cashier was absolutely very kind, she helped us and thanked us for our purchase.
The guys were basically joking that people like us are too stupid to see the cashier.... But if it's your first time in the store, the cashier is pretty well hidden.
From the looks of the reviews, the owner could use an attitude adjustment. I won't be back.
I was very close to telling the owner off, right there. But I try my best to be respectful, even when others are acting...
