It's taken me a while to write this review because every time I go to write it, I get a little emotional all over again.
First and foremost, Donna has an amazing team on her hands, and she's a beautiful spirit for what she did for me. Alina, however, was my Godsend! Truly an angel who saved me and my wedding day.
I came in with an all too common sob story (unfortunately, because Alina confirmed it, lol) of a custom wedding dress debacle, where my designer botched the dress and I had nothing to wear. The difference between me and most brides, though, was that I was coming in with only 3 hours before I had to report to the airport for my flight to my destination wedding in the DR! We're not going to get into the details of the custom debacle and/or why it was a mess, the bottom line here (and what the review is about) is that Alina and Unique Lady Bridal & Prom not only saved the day but from the very jump had an amazing selection of affordable gowns and sizes for every bride and Prom Queen out there. I say this as a size 24 street dress and size 28 Bridal gown (not an easy size to find!)
I discovered Unique Lady Bridal & Prom over a year before when I first began my search for a dress. I had a vision in my mind and though I'd found a beautiful dress that everyone loved on me, at that moment... it just wasn't 'IT'! So fast forward to 3 hours before needing to be at the airport, and here I was, back where I started. As soon as I hit the door, Alina greeted me, and I told her my sob story. She simply smirked and said "Okay we'll take care of you. Let's look for that dress," with the calmest, coolest, most confident demeanor. We found it, and she set me up to try it on again before letting me know she was going to see if she could find any other options. My first dress still fit perfectly, just like before, and I was ready to settle. Then Alina approached with the other option. She gave me the preface that this dress was cheaper... AND HEAVIER... but it was prettier than the one in hand. I looked at it and said, "Let's try it!" And when I tried it on... it was breathtaking! I knew this was it... it was the one! And when I tell you it was even more beautiful on me than any customized imagining I'd had in my mind... I'm not even doing it justice! The dress was absolutely perfect!
So I was already near tears because we'd found it, but then Alina came back and said that she'd spoken with Donna and they were going to take a little extra off the cost considering my situation. I almost cried right there on the spot.
These women were so kind and truly did take care of me in my time of need! I wish I could give 10 million stars. Instead, I'll be stopping by with treats. I cannot thank them for all the blessings they bestowed upon me that day... from helping find the perfect dress in an hour and a half to making it more affordable, and most of all, keeping calm, having faith, and helping me stay sane in that moment. My daughter was immediately drawn to one of the dresses and expressed her love for it. Throughout our search, the staff were attentive, helpful, and reassuring. They informed us that if we left a review after finding a dress, we would receive free jewelry and a tote bag filled with goodies when purchasing a couture dress. While this initial experience was excellent, it was not an authentic reflection of the store’s true value. The incentives offered for positive reviews likely contribute to the high average rating of 4.7 on various platforms. This suggests that the reviews may not accurately represent the typical customer experience at the store. Therefore, I have decided to adjust my review from a 5 to a more realistic 3, in order to provide an accurate representation of my overall impression based on current facts. Indeed, my initial encounter was extremely positive. However, this favorable experience can be attributed to the sales team’s strong efforts to secure a purchase. Unfortunately, my daughter’s first fitting turned into a distressing ordeal. Initially, there was a delay of 20 minutes as the staff struggled to locate my daughter’s dress. Furthermore, the seamstress took it upon herself to dictate how the dress should be altered, seemingly reluctant to fulfill the additional alterations that had been promised. Considering the significant investment of $1600 in a dress, it is imperative that any alterations are carried out to appease my daughters liking. Upon completion of the first fitting, neither myself nor my daughter felt confident that the dress would be ready for collection at the subsequent fitting. On Wednesday, May 15th, my daughter had her second fitting appointment. We arrived at the store 30 minutes early, expecting a quick in-and-out visit since the store was empty. However, to our disappointment, when my daughter tried on her dress, we realized that no progress had been made on the alterations since the first fitting. The pins were still in place where adjustments for stones and pearls were needed. Despite waiting for 2.5 hours, the alterations remained incomplete. I paid for the dress in full and requested Donna to take over the alterations. The following day, Donna contacted me, and within less than 20 minutes, she successfully completed the alterations. Read moreOwner is nice, staff left much to be desired. The website claimed to have a dress, we went to the store.. which was an hr a way. They didn’t have the dress. The clerk said she could order the dress. I asked if there was something similar my daughter could try to see if she liked the style. She pulled some dresses and we decided to order. When the dress came in “mind you we paid 400 deposit”, the dresses she showed us were much better quality than the Andrea and Leo we purchased, based off her selections. When we went for our first fitting we arrived 20 min early, a child no more than 16 at the counter rolled her eyes and threw the dress in a fitting room. After about 20 min of multiple employees walking by with nothing to do, ignored us I helped her into the dress. That I now paid 667.80 for. After about and hr I finally.. so irritated, that our appointment had been ignored for alterations, and two the gown was twice the posted retail price, and third wasn’t even steamed when we arrived. Asked them to steam the dress and package it. The girl rang me up. When the owner finally addressed us my daughter was so disappointed in her prom experience she left to sit in the car, when I tried to explain, we paid twice retail, to have an experience for my daughter, she acted as if I wanted a discount.. which to be clear I didn’t. I do think the owner eventually seen this ruined my daughters experience, and she did make her feel special while bonding with her for a few moments, which is all I really wanted out of this. She gave her a sewing kit which I thought was really intuitive, considering my daughter is in theater, music, and art. After the dress was steamed it was better. So I give this three stars. Nice...
