Bloom Southfield — Restaurant in Southfield

My experience with bloom was not a good experience, especially to celebrate my birthday. I wish I would have picked a better place because my birthday was ruined. Let's start with the reservation. On the website it give you a choice to pick between a table or booth, I picked a table they sat us at a booth and when I brought this up I was told tables seat party of 2 only, this need to be fixed on the website because how would the customer know 🤔 Second issue, they claim to be a lounge not a dinner spot but they run it like a dinner spot with like 5-6 dinner options on the menu and the rest is like finger food 😑 the worst part, they ONLY GIVE YOU 2HRS to eat, drink, smoke hookah($45 preference), catch a vibe, experience and enjoy yourself in that little bit of time 🙄 Food took a hour to come out, 1 of my guest lamb chops were burnt they hid it with sauce and flipping the burnt side down, I never received my red bull and 1 of my guest never received her drink 👎🏾 they sent 3 different workers over to the booth to make us get up before it was even time and when I checked that, I was told because they wanted to clean up before the next reservation. Disrespectful. That's not my problem, so they waited. The music was initially TRASH before I went to the DJ and complained, he said he couldn't DJ until the manager switch him over to DJ until then we listened to another DJ play repast music on YouTube. When the DJ finally was able to do his job damn near at 10pm he did a great job. For a new spot I hate it already, I was thinking this is going to be a good experience but I was wrong. It gave we want your money, so eat, drink quickly and get out. I wouldn't reccomend this place to anyone, but the inside look really nice and pretty🤷🏿‍♀️ Last thing, they charge a $10 cancelation fee if you do not cancel your reservation 24hrs ahead of time, however that is not an option on the website. So I rescheduled for a future date, I called in 24hrs ahead spoke to India, explained what I did and wanted to cancel the original date she said okay it was canceled. Guess what happened 😂 they charged my card the $10 anyway even though I was told it was canceled by India. THANK GOD MY CARD WAS LOCKED! That was crazy and...

Will update when I return at a later time… Went within the second weekend of offering brunch. Immediately was happy about the atmosphere and vibe set by the newly opened restaurant. Our party of 8 set reservations and was sat within minutes into our corner booth. With this place being a place cultured for people of color I feel the booths were a little small for our entire party. They did offer us two additional chairs. Personal opinion: If 80% of your seating is booths for groups… offer bigger booths… especially when they have the additional empty space to. There were probably only 6 tables in the main area of the restaurant, which is much less compared to booth offerings.

We ordered drinks and later food per usual. After waiting and waiting, we noticed that we sat and waited for food for about an hour and a half. Food never came. Waitress was doing her best and apologizing multiple times, and offered a free round of drinks but we were hungry and ready to get out of there to get food. She did comp our bill decently as a peace offering which we were thankful.

But I’m sure this place will be great later on after they work out some of the kinks.

Keynotes: Restaurant clearly opened or started offering special services, like Brunch, but wasn’t ready. First impressions are everything, I offer second chances, but not all individuals are like me.

Found out once we left that the two tables neighboring ours also had a similar experience to ours and didn’t receive food OR one or two people did but the rest of the table sat for an additional 30mins still with no food.

Prices were honestly very reasonable, didn’t expect that when I walked into the space based off of the atmosphere.

The elevated atmosphere I don’t believe will last longer than a few years with them offering alcohol and hookah, especially with the customer base being “our people”. Just being honest.

Groups of our size they automatically added a 20% gratuity AND only one check. They did offer to spit payment...

Bloom Southfield is the hottest new thing. It is definitely not what I expected. It is listed as a restaurant; however, I would consider it a lounge that serves food.

I strongly recommend reservations. In fact, right now, I don't think they can accommodate you without a reservation.

If you are hosting a celebration ie birthday, this is a great spot. The ambiance is amazing. They play music. They serve food. They serve drinks. You can purchase Hookah on-site.

I don't know if they allow dancing but the vibe definitely calls for it.

This is a black owned business and the owner is present and hands on. We were able to have a nice chat and I sincerely hope his business succeeds.

My daughter loved this establishment and will definitely return with her friends.

The food was a B to me. I didn't have anything that I felt was to die for but it was at no fault of the restaurant just personal preference.

Our server was a B+. She would disappear at times but when she returned she took care of all our needs.
