Stop & Shop — Local services in Southington

Update: A manager contacted me via e-mail and apologized for the trouble this incident has caused. This has restored my faith in my local Stop and Shop. Thank you for your help.

Original Review: Yesterday I saw hand sanitizer on an endcap across from the pharmacy. The shelves all displayed a price of $3.99 per bottle. I purchased three bottles. The price rang up at $6.49 apiece. I questioned the cashier in charge of self checkout, but she stated that the price is the price. There was no price on the shelf for $6.49, only for $3.99. In fact this endcap display had four copies of the $3.99 price tag on it. I asked to speak to a manager. Head cashier Brandon (if I remember correctly) came over and spoke with me. I showed him the display. He saw that there was no higher price label. He had to ask the women in charge of the dept for the price. He came back and I asked if I could I could get the price adjusted to $3.99 per bottle, or a refund on one bottle. He stated that there is nothing he could do. He was willing to get a manager, but a line was forming for the self checkout so I had to leave. I paid for my sanitizer and then proceeded to take pictures of the hand sanitizer display. Stop and shop in Southington... Had a really shitty day with every person I came into contact with yesterday as far as customer service is concerned. Walmart being the worst. Things are not like they used to be.There is not much respect for customers even when respect is given. Except for Stop and shop of Southington. So much that I had to make it my business to let people know of how lovely this supermarket is. Not only in appearance but how amazing the staff is, EVERY single one of them!!. Shout out to both Jess and Ian for being so sweet and how well they worked together but especially to Ian who was very friendly, warm and funny. I felt like I was talking to someone I've known my whole life. He reminded me of the few people in customer service that really make a difference and for that I am grateful. 8/12/25 around 6pm. I mentioned to absolute nicest young man at check out/register, that the lettuce is in bad shape. Another woman heard this, walked and me to produce. We found another lovely young man in which I asked, if there was fresh red leaf. Yes there was. He went straight to the back and returned with lettuce that he personally washed and trimmed for me(!)-beautiful lettuce. Side note- the woman that had walked me there, asked if I wanted her to stay with me as I waited for him to return. Seriously? I was in shock. He actually cared about me and my lettuce and she was willing to entertain me as I waited for his return. WOW experience! Superior customer service and genuine kindness. And then on my way out from the register they were saying “glad we could help you have a great day,” as I exited the store. I may have to visit the store daily just for a lift up or happy feeling. Give them a raise, bonus or extra vacation. Something special. This deserves to be noticed. Thank you for hiring your amazing staff Southington...
