Updating my review because Roto Rooter has shown exceptional professionalism and effort when working to resolve my situation. It seems my experience was a rare one and they’ve made it clear that this does not reflect them as a company.
Horrible experience. Would not recommend Roto-Rooter to anyone. Back in August my shower started to back-up so we called Roto-Rooter. They sent Austin and he removed the clog. This cost $250 but we figured it costs what it costs and it’s not a big deal. Before he left Austin broke the handle to our shower. He offered to fix it but asked my husband to run to the hardware store and buy it himself. A little annoying but whatever. He waits for my husband to get back, goes to install the handle and breaks it again. This time he does not offer to fix it. He just left. We paid for two new shower handles out of pocket with no offer for discounts or reimbursements. We were upset but whatever. Then, in January our tub begins to back up again. I remember that our drain clog had a 6 month warranty so I call Roto-rooter to get to the bottom of it. They sent Austin again. When he gets there he tells me it’s going to be another $250. I let him know that it’s covered under the 6 month warranty and that it should be free and he says, “No, it’s been over 6 months.” I was a little thrown off so I just said, “Okay, we’ll I wasn’t expecting to pay so I’m sorry but I can’t afford that. I’ll call you when I have the money.” Right before he leaves I count again and realize that he’s wrong. It’s only been 5 months. So I flag him down and let him know this and he very rudely says “fair enough” and agrees to come back inside. He’s in my bathroom for a total of 5 minutes before coming out and saying there is no clog, and quotes me for a $1,300 repair. He cannot tell me what’s wrong with the drain but he does say the seal on the bottom of my tub is also broken (it was not broken before he got there). I’m now upset and call Roto rooter requesting someone else come take a look as Austin was very unprofessional. They send a second guy who says yes it looks like the seal is broken (does not offer to fix it) but everything else looks fine and Austin was probably just “assuming the worst case scenario”. We then had to pay a private contractor to come out and fix the seal in our tub which took all weekend and was a huge pain (had to cut through our wall to fix). Once the problem they caused was finally fixed we go to take a shower and it is backing up still. But now it backs up to above ankle height within minutes and takes hours to drain. We figure, Austin must have been right. So we spend the next 2 months enduring the backed up tub and saving up money for the worst case scenario. We finally saved up enough, but this time we call Jet plumbing. Jet sends someone out with the intention of caming our drain to get to the bottom of the problem but figures they’ll snake it just in case. Turns out the problem was a SIMPLE CLOG. After all the time and money we spent turns out Roto-Rooter was trying to scare us into paying for expensive repairs wile did not need. This was after breaking our shower multiple times and refusing to fix it. I will never go to Roto rooter again and I only write this review because they refused to rectify the situation and I want to warn others of what could happen if the call...
Read moreI had the most positive experience with my Roto Rooter Service that went FAR beyond my expectations. My technician, Aaron, took the time to explain every aspect of the job to me, and even took more time when necessary, to make sure I understood the reason for the repair, the repair process, and the price before even starting the job. The most important thing to me when working with a company, is feeling that I can trust them, especially in these times when that can be so hard to find. My job happened to be more complicated than I initially thought when I first made the appointment with Roto Rooter. My issue turned out to be so extensive, due to my own fault of putting food down the garbage disposal that was known to severely clog the pipes. Although I did not know this for all the years I was doing this, it looked like the only way to fix it was quite probably going to be to have to replace the pipe. This would have involved ripping out the carpet & the kitchen floor, in order to be able to blast out the pipe from the concrete foundation below, which would have been astronomically expensive, and cause tremendous inconvenience. It was ONLY because Aaron wanted to prevent this from happening, that he kept trying over and over, and was willing to try ANY other procedures he could think of, as all of the normal procedures had failed so far. I am SO grateful to Aaron, because it was ONLY because of his willingness & all of his extra efforts that I was spared much dreaded outcome, because his ideas WORKED!!! He stopped to explain things to me each step of the way, and even took the time to show me the parts he would be using, so I could visualize what he was doing in inside of a pipe that I could not see. And he has such a heart for his job and the people that he provides service for, that I could even hear him rejoicing outside, while he was in the middle of trying this "last-chance effort," as he loudly yelled outside to himself, "I CAN HEAR WATER!!!" I will be forever grateful, and will always use Roto Rooter in the future, as well as wholeheartedly recommending Aaron and Roto Rooter to others in the future. Thank you for such a positive...
Read moreThis was hands down the worst plumbing experience of my life. Roto-Rooter should be ashamed of themselves. The plumber they sent to my home wasted 7 hours of my day doing absolutely nothing except repeating the same useless procedure over and over while telling me “just one more time.” He must have said that a hundred times like a broken record, and in the end, the problem was exactly the same as when he started only now I was out hundreds of dollars and 7 hours of my life I’ll never get back.
He took multiple breaks on the clock, disappeared for over an hour with no explanation, and clearly had no clue what he was doing. This wasn’t just incompetence it felt like a blatant attempt to run up the bill. When we finally told him we were done, I called another local plumber who came out today, charged me less than half of what Roto-Rooter scammed me for, and actually fixed the issue in under 30 minutes. That plumber even told us point-blank that Roto-Rooter completely ripped us off and the plumber sent to my house was just trying to rack up the bill.
As local business owners, we always try to stay local and support others, but this company is nothing but a scam operation preying on people who don’t know better we are extremely disappointed and as an extremely large local Reno business i will make it a point to tell everyone i know how horrible this company is . They wasted my time, stole my money, and gave me zero results. I wouldn’t let Roto-Rooter touch a garden hose, let alone my plumbing. Avoid them at all costs this company is a joke...
