Cheaper By The Minute — Local services in Spokane Valley

I purchased a trail camera from cheaper by the minute, and I made sure it powered on and worked within the 72 hour window. However, it was winter and I didn’t have a use for it at the time so it sat aside. When I went to activate it with the cellular network, it was already connected to somebody else’s service. The company that makes the product told me they couldn’t tell if it was stolen or not. I took it back to cheaper by the minute to try and get either a refund or exchange and they tried to fix it with the manufacturer that in fact it was returned and I purchased it from them. I’ve waited for weeks for them to try and resolve it with the manufacturer. Presently I was called by the assistant manager and told they cannot resolve it. That the best he can do is offer me 15% off of a $75 one they have in stock. Never mind the $120 they charged me for the first one. There’s nothing they can do because it was beyond their 72 hour window. They sold a product that the manufacturer cannot verify is not stolen. Therefore, I can’t use it. It will not work without the service. But the best they can do is offer me $12 off of another used trail camera. I have been a customer since the store opened, they know me as soon as I walk in the door - but there are other alternatives for used Costco products - Spokane Discount has multiple locations and the same merchandise. Yes, maybe I should’ve hooked it up to my cellular service sooner or attempted to do so, but I don’t think I am completely at fault here and it would be nice to be met partway and not be insulted. My point of view is a bit different than many. Long story short this was my first time in and noticed right away that all but two things in the front, outside, were not even marked.

Inside I was greeted by a very nice front of the store person. But the only thing I found that should have been below retail that I looked at was a cool lamp for camping. I left the store, upset by the prices that were mostly, not below retail.

Then I came to the website to do my review and noticed that the person who is responding on people's low scores, to me, is actually kind of being a little not super professional. Everyone has a right to put their opinion on here and there are clearly a lot of us that agree that these are not below retail prices for the most part. And, I didn't know that broken or missing pieces were sometimes the case so that kind of just makes me feel like I will never go back in that store. An idea that I would probably do is have a simple flier in the front that explains how things work for the "great prices" so that there is some transparency. And, stop arguing with people's comments on the reviews, admit where things can be improved and tell them, thank you. It would definitely improve the integrity of the Mission of the store. ...

This happens to be my new FAVORITE discount store! They have so many products - returns from stores, discontinued items, etc. - and the prices are surprising when you use the website calculator to determine what additional percentage can be taken off the item at checkout. The staff at this store are very down to earth, helpful and knowledgeable about items - excellent customer service, not only with me but with other customers that I observed. My only issue was how I had to look up the additional discount by the date of the item to tell the cashier what the percent off was - the website program is just not as user friendly as it should be (just being able to at least type in the date) and honestly, when letting the cashier the discount it becomes overwhelming trying to keep track of everything to make sure the discount is accurate. A new software system is desperately needed to help customers and help the cashier in calculating extra percentages off.
