Just American Desserts — Restaurant in Spokane Valley

I called about a week ahead to order a German chocolate cake, to celebrate my late mother's first heavenly birthday with my siblings and dad while on a special trip into the area to honor mom's final wishes.

This was the only one out of about 10 different places I called between Couer d'Alene and Spokane Valley, who ended up being able to accommodate the request. I spoke to Sue for the order and she was lovely (my mother's middle name was also Sue ❤️) while putting it together.

We were able to pick the cake up a little earlier than planned, and despite having a minor snafu with accidentally getting someone else's order (ironically, also a German chocolate cake), they rectified the issue quickly and were very apologetic - thank you for the awesome service recovery. Luckily we were staying less than 10 mins from here so getting things swapped around wasn't a challenge for us.

The cake itself? DELICIOUS. It is exactly what we were hoping for. Mom would have absolutely loved it! Moist, not overly sweet, and more of the "authentic" style we prefer.

We booked Just American Desserts for our December 2024 wedding and they did a fabulous job. My husband always says he doesn't like cake, but after our tasting, he said, "turns out I love cake, I just hadn't ever had good cake until now!'

We got a small, two-tiered cake for us. One layer was chocolate cake, and the other was orange cake, with a rum-raspberry filling and buttercream frosting. It was Christmas magic! It was so good that we couldn't bear to put it in the freezer for an anniversary. We had our event staff slice the whole thing and serve it to guests because it was simply too good not to enjoy right then and there!

For our guests, we ordered a variety of mini-desserts which included various cakes and tartlets. Our guests raved and raved about the desserts. They are simply beautiful and delicious.

The bakery delivered the cake for us seamlessly. I was getting ready, and they handled everything with our coordinator, so I never had to stress.

The tasting experience was also lovely. They have so many options for flavors, fillings, and frostings. They also have a huge binder with decorating options to sift through.

Im new to Washington. I found this dessert shop because its near my new home and I did extensive research.

This shop sells some of the best slices of white and fudge cake that I have ever eaten. I come in weekly and stock up on their sweets because I have a sweet-tooth that causes the moon to turn red sometimes. This place scratches the itch!

I have steadily tasted a large portion of their catalog. Every slice of cake Ive ordered has been great in its own special way. Without babbling, my highlights include, strawberry white cake, fudge raspberry and Almond poppyseed. The almond poppyseed is a slice of heaven. Its not too heavy but has an exponential flavor. The more you eat, the more you love it.

This shop makes custom cakes. I really want a reason to hire them for a custom order. One day maybe.
