We have done escape rooms all over the US and love them. We have probably done 100 total. Unit 55 was recommended to us so we thought we would give it a try. They started off by putting bags over your head and laying your team into a small room. We were excited and thought this was awesome. When we took the bags of we were in a room painted black with a couple laminated pieces of paper staples to the wall and to a table. There were a couple maps strapped to another wall. After figuring out what the clues meant and getting out of the first room, when went into a all black hallway where we were met by what was supposed to be a werewolf but looked more like a goblin, krampus troll. My husband said the actor kept sticking his fingers in his ears and he was breathing closely enough into another team members face that she was spit on. There was no decor, a couple locks to get through. We hate using clues, which they said they don't really give anyway, but the werewolf had to clue us into thing's that we're pretty impossible to see. They also told us at the beginning that we might be kidnapped and brought to a different room to solve another Puzzle. I was "kidnapped" a bag again on over my head,, lead down the hallway and stuck in a corner for about 2 minutes, no other puzzle, no other room, just the end of a hallway. It was not too hard but it didn't seem to flow, it was just kinda random puzzles thrown together. We got out with 10 minutes left. I would never go back, it seemed like a waste of time and money. Escape rooms don't have to be overly elaborate and decorated, but this was just black walls, and boring. Probably the worst escape room...
Read moreSave your money; this place is a rip off. We did the Serial Killer room, and it was a joke. There were no fun props or special effects, and the written clues were extremely difficult to figure out in the time alotted. We were told we could ask for help; and we did ask twice, but after that it was like they disappeared - crickets. There was no one to monitor the room. When we ran out of time without advancing beyond the first room, they opened the door, whisked us quickly to the exit, said "have a nice day," and disappeared again before we could give one word of feedback. They mentioned when we got there that only 30% of groups advance beyond the first room. I would say that it's not because people aren't smart; rather it's because this game is so poorly thought out. We paid $64 for an experience. In my opinion, it is no skin off the business' back to help their clients achieve that experience. If your clients had a good time, they're more likely to return, right? I will never be back. I can have more fun using that much money to fill my gas tank. Two...
Read morePreface this with the fact that I am not into scary thing. We did Escape Unit 55's least scary escape room of the year. There were a couple good jump scares but by and large it was a nice level of fear/distraction for me. For perspective there is physical contact and you can be kidnapped from your group though none of us were. In general I felt like puzzles were fun, but maybe a little too straightforward. I would rather have more puzzle and less scary. The people that run the Escape Unit 55 are very devoted to scares and haunted houses so apparently they get much scarier. Overall, the whole group had a great time and I would definitely do another escape. I would like it if they would do some pure escape events intermixed with the scare events. For those into scary things they are doing a big event outdoors on a creepy old property, caves, barns, old house, the works. The clown had an amazing costume....
