I needed hand engraving on the inside of plain platinum wedding bands for my wife and I (5mm wide for me, 3mm wide for her, both comfort fit) and Clark's in CDA recommended Nic Brotherton - he is associated with Meaghan at Paragon (his fiance).

Met with both of them at the Paragon office and discussed what I wanted: a single word in latin on the inside of each ring in a script type font with the first letter capitalized. I had a particular font in mind based on the capital letter (same for both rings and had lots of flourish), but Nic explained the significant differences between a font created for printing or computer use and one that is engraved. Basically, the nature of engraving limits what can be done especially when you are engraving a minimally wide curved surface inside of a small ring! There is a standard script font used by engravers that was similar to what I wanted and Nic assured me that he would modify the font to come as close as possible to my font choice, in particular adding flourish to the capital letters. I followed up with an email to Nic the next morning with some additional thoughts and concerns and Nic addressed all of them.

Picking up the rings at the office I was quite pleased with what Nic was able to do. First class work that exceeded my expectations, and the engraving will clearly last the lifetime of the ring. I would highly recommend Nic Brotherton for any hand engraving...

I had 2 rings that I wanted appraised for insurance purposes. Meaghan was, first of all, very accommodating. I had tried to book an appointment online. When I hadn’t received a confirmation, I began to worry my request hadn’t gone through. I called early the morning of my afternoon appointment. At not even 8:00am, Meaghan answered the phone! My appointment was not showing up on her end, but she scheduled one for me at that moment, for the time I wanted.

Meaghan’s office is comfortable and she’s welcoming, offering bottled water and a lovely view. It took about 90 minutes for her to appraise both pieces. During this time we chatted about diamonds and insurance and pizza and restaurants. The time flew by.

She did a great job explaining her appraisal process and the basis for her valuation of my pieces. She also gave me some tips for caring for these rings which I wear every day. The next morning, my formal appraisal appeared in my email and she’s sending a hard copy as well. She sent a separate text to make sure I got the email.

Gemworks Fine Jewelers is simply amazing! Top notch all the way! Using morse code I wanted to create keepsake pieces for my daughters that would incorporate a saying of my recently deceased husband. Meaghan and Nic helped me bring my vision to life working within my budget. We only had about a 2 week timeframe to complete the project which they accomplished a day ahead of schedule. Meaghan even had them all beautifully presented in individual gift bags with lovely boxes and soft storage pouches. I love that we settled on a pendant, creating a full circle and sitting near the heart. Mine, in white gold is pictured below while the ones for my girls were in 14k gold. The pendants are stunning, especially with the small diamond adding a little sparkle and were the perfect gift to give them at the private graveside service we had following the memorial. These necklaces provided an exquisite touchstone for our family with a message known only to us and will serve to help keep my husbands memory alive. I am so grateful to have found Gemworks.
