Tonight my friend Jenna and I tried the India House on the South Hill for dinner. Let me say, it was wonderful.
We really liked the way it felt, the minute we walked in. It was a lot bigger on the inside than we had thought. It’s clean and the booths have tall walls so you have a sense of privacy.
I ordered tomato soup to start. It was a very rustic soup. Not creamy, I really enjoyed it. I would definitely get it again. I even dunked my garlic naan in it, it was perfect.
For our meals, Jenna and I both ordered the Fish Tandoori. It was a very good sized portion, there was plenty leftover for another meal (or two).
We also tried their Garlic Naan. It was not chewy, it was light and flavored very well.

There was no real flavor, no spice, and it certainly wasn’t anywhere close to what you'd expect from a biryani. To make it even worse, I specifically asked for it to be medium spicy, and instead of using real spices, they dumped a ton of Sriracha sauce on it. The entire dish reeked of that cheap, vinegary Sriracha, which completely ruined whatever was left of the flavor. It tasted nothing like biryani, it was a sad, lazy mess. Don’t waste your time...

We were seated right sway in booths with plush cushioned seats, which we appreciated. There were other people in the restaurant but it did not feel crowded because of the privacy layout of the seating.
We ordered a chef special for an tasty appetizer which was vegetarian. We ordered korma chicken and goat biryani for our main dishes. We loved them both, so flavorful. The garlic naan bread was good and our entree portions were generous, as was the appetizer. We also loved having leftovers to enjoy...
