Glad I checked this place out. Sleek industrial decor vibe with chilled atmosphere and amazing background music. Service was INCREDIBLE. Had the ol' standby of many a sushi joint, the "Avocado bomb", and miso soup for appetizers. I liked the lobster "tempura" roll and the shrimp tempura roll and the sashimi appetizer. But when I tried my old stand-by of nigiri I chose my usual salmon but also decided to be a little adventurous and selected the "fatty" tuna nigiri as well. TERRIBLE mistake! That fatty tuna was just TOO "fatty" and in order not to ruin anyone's appetite I won't say what it felt like going down (but that's just my personal preference, I'm sure SOMEONE must like it if it's on the menu...) next time I'll try the "medium fatty" or plain regular tuna nigiri. The shrimp tempura roll was also very scrumptious.
I came back a few days later to try the classic "deluxe" lobster roll, without the tempura treatment and also had salmon nigiri again as well. The salmon melted in the mouth splendidly.. and The classic deluxe lobster roll is out of this world!!!🔥🍣❤️🔥 DEFINITELY returning for that. One of the very few x's I've not regretted paying such a large spending amount when dining out. Very exclusive sushi experience and would happily repeat.
One thing I absolutely LOVE about this place is they have a FULL wine and cocktail menu separate from the dining menu—sushi connoisseurs can tell you that's extremely hard to come by at these types of Japanese bistros. They usually are limited to sake, Asian brand beer and less than a handful of types of wines which is unfortunate because while I enjoy sake, I don't want it every single time I eat out @sushi establishment —which is usually @ least once a week. The first time I ordered sake, but the 2nd visit I ordered a classic Mojito, which is my favorite cocktail. It was pretty good. I am looking forward to returning and trying more selections.
NOTE: The last four or five photos are the "classic deluxe" lobster roll (and avocado bomb) I had during my 2nd visit and not the "tempura" lobster roll in the 1st two photos which I had my...

This is by far the best sushi in town. But, you are in Zag town, and when the zags are playing, the bars in this town are always full of fans. Not here, sat down with my girl to watch the zags, bar tender didn't:
Know how to change the channel and said she had to get permission as someone else could have asked to watch the current game. You are the bar tender you don't know that? You don't know how to change the channel?
When she said she would ask how to change it or if she can, never followed up with us, had to ask again.
When she found out their TV is on you tube, she said it's likely not on you tube. Well how would she know if she cannot even navigate to the the channel.
Another fan alked in and asked how about the zags game. She said it's likely not on you tube, the patron held his phone up and said yes it is. Watching it now.
*note: he had to watch it from his phone.
She still didn't change it because she didn't know how. She said she could call the owner but.....
She asked us if we wanted more drinks, we told her yes and another roll then came back around 10 minutes later and asked if we wanted more drinks, at that time I said nevermind and asked for my check because she blew us off about more drinks, more rolls and the zags game.
You are in zag town, the university is down the street.
I would have bought more drinks. More rolls. But it was clear your bar tender did not want to work or make more money. Your hostess at the front door was slouched over and leaning on the podium.pick up a Broom, clean a window, do something.
How are you I going to be the best sushi in town with the worse bar...
Read moreThe best sushi I've ever eaten in my life. Clean location. Amazing king waitress willing to recommend the best Japanese experience. I love this place. I won't go to any other sushi restaurant in Spokane. Try the tiger roll if you decide to visit. It's amazing. Thank you guys.
The above review was three years ago. Today, I went to Izumi and Jordyn took my to go order. Despite I left my VIP card at home. She was so kind in giving me the 10% off as a VIP customer. Jordyn is a sweet wait byress. She smiles all the time, and give you a great service. I would wish all waitresses in Spokane, would be like her. Thank you so much Jordyn, you are the best!
P.S. I tried the Fried Calamari don't miss it! The Egg Flower soup is also amazing!
Summer 2022. Judy is the senior waitress at Izumi. She gave me my VIP card. When I go to Izumi. She is so sweet and always recommend me a new try. The service that provides Judy is not a standard attention. She goes beyond that. By far Judy is my favorite waitress in town. I love her. Thank you, Judy.
Fall 2024. After the winter remodeling. Izumi is fancier than before. The new facility is a lounge-style surrounding with a wider and exotic distribution. New crew have added to the staff. Even all the guys are amazing. I must mention Kyle in the bar which is super nice. He is our favorite bartender since his old days in Applebee's at the 29th. I also want to mention Olivia and Shell thank both take care of me. They update my order if I change my mind and give me my VIP discount even if I drop my wallet in my car. Thank you Kyle, Shell, and Olivia for being...
