The Adventurers' Academy — Local services in Spring Garden Township

I cannot say enough about how incredible The Adventure's Academy is! There are a number of specific things that I have ranted and raved about to my friends about The Adventure's Academy and could go on and on, including their superb organization of TCG singles, annual Black Friday deals, amazing staff and amazing ambiance in the store, but I would like to also call out 2 specific instances that have just set them above and beyond to me as a consumer. First, last winter, there was inclement weather and the store announced on social media that they were closing for the safety of their staff. That spoke volumes to me about how the owners (or Headmaster and Headmistress) value their staff and it was so refreshing to see them close for their staff's safety. Second, I placed on order for 3 MTG singles on their website on a Friday afternoon, called a few minutes later to ask what the typical processing time is for orders and was told by Cosmo that the order was actually just put together and was ready. The time between getting my order confirmation email and my email saying my order was ready to be picked up was 7 minutes. Literally 7 minutes. When I came in to grab my order, Cosmo not only got my order to me immediately but also made it a point to explain that lead times differ based on how busy the store is and how big the order is, but they do everything they can to get orders together ASAP. I was super impressed that he remembered that I had asked that question on the phone and made the effort to give me the answer since I ended the phone call right after he said my order was ready already. As a local game store; heck, as a business as a whole; The Adventure's Academy and their staff are doing everything right. They are my go to game store and I will be telling more and more of my friends about them because the service you get and the overall community they have is everything you could want. This is a fantastic LGS in the heart of York. If you are in York County, I can't recommend it enough.

At one point, I was a local- and when I was, we didn't have this store. We had several options (but frankly, options were limited and staff at the other stores weren't often the most polite). This place however is a breath of fresh air for those in a variety of hobbies and spaces.

If I had to make a single gripe- the Discord information to interact with the community was hard to spot, but I did find it eventually.

Otherwise, there are no issues. This place is great. Prices are fair and reasonable, staff is friendly and helpful- and are willing to talk to you should they not be busy. While I wish I had gotten their names, the two in this past evening in particular deserve praise for their customer service and politeness. Easy to approach- even if you aren't socialable or anxious in social situations.

Play space is wide- and somehow, still not enough space for how popular the store is. Each seat was packed this Wednesday and that's a good sign of a healthy community.

Bathrooms clean and taken care of. Plenty of options for snacks and drinks. A welcoming vibe and a pleasant community.

This place is the best game store York has had in decades and with your visit it will last. Stores should strive to do the things they are doing.

Genuinely, 10/10. I work at an LGS myself and this place impresses me each time I come in and I decided it was finally worth it to write a review.

I have visited many gaming stores from different states and the Adventurers' Academy is one that has stood out from above all the others. This store has many unique qualities. The owners have added their very own touches with doing woodwork in the store themselves. Their energy and kindness towards customers provides a fantastic atmosphere that makes the store so welcoming. The overall set up provides a medieval vibe that would truly enhance a session of any fantasy role-playing game. The passion for their business is phenomenal as they even dress in a renaissance attire that adds more to the fantasy setting in the store. Great customer service skills are also shown by attentiveness and knowledge of their great selection of products. I live an hour and a half away from the store, but if it wasn't for me being forty minutes away at the time that I decided to visit, I would have made the full trip with all the good things that I have heard. It is definitely worth checking out, and I will be visiting in the future. I am honored to see the store when it recently opened.
