Went into the ER experiencing my first pregnancy, and having bad stomach pains. I waited in the er and met with a doctor named Mary T Fanning. She told me they were going to perform an ultrasound and papsmhere on me to make sure everything was alright. I was taken to my ultrasound and then when i returned they performed my papsmhere. Mind you this is the same bed i had my ultrasound on that had stirrups. The Doctor told me they usually don't have stirrups in the ER so they use a Urine Pan and set a sheet on top of it to perform papsmheres. I gave her a kind of puzzled look cause i knew the bed i was previously in had stirrups, but i said ok. The nurses and the doctor were trying to get me onto the pan, and were struggling as you can image how uncomfortable this was for me. They scrapped my skin across some metal postings on the bed just to get me up on top. The back of my legs were all cut up, but they finished with the papsmhere. Once they were done and had left the room i was trying to figure out what my leg was cut on. They were stirrups, the metal framing on the stirrups is what they're were trying to get me past to get me up on the pan. I was immediately grossed out, because there's a lot of fluid exchanges that go on inside an emergency room and the stirrups were dusty and dirty. You could tell they had not been cleaned in some time. When Mrs. Fanning returned i already had the stirrups pulled out, I asked her why they wouldn't use them. They had to have seen them since thats what they were trying to get me past to get me on the pan. And she looked at me in awe, as if she had no idea they were there and said "I didn't see them there, Well do you want me to clean it?" in a condescending tone. No apology for the mistake. I told her no i'd be filing a complaint with the hospital regarding it. Which i did follow up on the next day i called in to register a complaint about what happened. I left voicemails for David Lee the director of operations for the emergency department and heard nothing back. I then followed up a day or two later again, and i spoke to the operator she said i should register a complaint with the care department so i gave them a call and explained the situation to them as well. She told me someone should be following up with me within 24 hours. Once three or four days had gone past, i called again. I told the woman at the care department that this was my 3rd time following up and someone needed to be in contact with me today. I then maybe 5 minutes later got a phone call from someone named Mr. Cooper. He said he had received my message and wanted to know what i needed you could tell in the tone of his voice he was already aggravated. I asked him what had been done to follow up regarding my complaint and he just kept repeating himself saying he spoke to the provider. The customer care department was more apologetic for the circumstance then anyone working in the emergency room. Not once did he apologize for what had happened or assured me going forward nothing like this should happen. He actually told me that there are only 5 beds in the York Hospital that have stirrups, and this was there protocal for handling papsmheres in the ER. As a person who lives in York County and has for sometime and seen the continuous rehabs and renovations to that department you really expect me to accept thats your protocal. As a woman experiencing my first pregnancy i was already nervous enough. People's lives are in your hands and if that is your quality of acceptance of how your dealing with people who are coming into your department looking for assistance you will not continue to be open for much longer. I look forward to the new renovations being done to memorial as i will NEVER go back to that place again. I have already contacted my healthcare provider and i have a list of doctors who will deliver at any hospital but York. I refuse to entrust my new childs life with a bunch of doctors who could really give a damn about the people they're...
Read moreBoy do I have a story⌠I was in the ER for 8 hours, Iâm not complaining about the wait or anything. This is far more pressing than a wait time. I know ERâs tend to have long waits, hence why I was hesitant in the first place and decided to go to urgent care first in which they sent me to the ER.
I was having severe abdominal pain and they ran 5 different tests on me. A CT scan, an ultrasound, EKG on my heart (donât know why I wasnât even having chest pain but whatever do what you gotta do) blood and urine. The whole 8 hours I sat there with an IV that wasnât connected to anything, they had no plans of hooking me up to any fluids or anything so I asked multiple times to get the IV removed because my whole arm and hand was getting tingly and numb. Letâs just say they didnât remove it till midnight which is when they discharged me. And they discharged me after telling me, âyeah they donât know whatâs wrong with youâ. And sent me on my way with no meds or antibiotics. I go to my doctor at UPMC a week later because I still have pain, only now itâs traveled up to my back. Within a 5 min convo with my Dr. and showing her the levels of my blood and urine and urine culture (which I should add, the hospital never called me to go over my urine culture despite saying they would) that I have a bad kidney infection, that WAS a uti when I went into the hospital, and because they didnât give me any antibiotics for a very very simple and easy issue it traveled to my right kidney and infected my kidney. Itâs 2 weeks later and unfortunately the pain is still there after 2 different antibiotics that my Dr. prescribed, which is leading us to believe that the UTI Wellspan York couldnât even determine or treat me for, may now be a much more serious kidney issue.
If they canât even figure out a UTI within 8 hours and 5 different testsâŚ..god help them and their patients.
Oh also everyone had a majorrrrr attitude with me from the jump. Iâm hard of hearing and wear a hearing aid, and when I asked the nurses to repeat themselves because they were mumbling to me and not even looking at me when speaking so it was hard for me to hear them, I was always met with very rude repetitive tone.
I wonât even go into detail about the young manâs that was in the âroomâ (curtain) over from me, thatâs his story to tell. But what I will say about his situation is that, if your nurses that you are employing; in a city that has a very prominent and high opioid use problem, are making fun of someone coming down from fentanyl and various other things, and then also refusing to accommodate his begging request of calling rehab and detox facilities so he can get soberâŚ. FIRE THEM
I would literally rather drive to a hospital thatâs hours away that can deliver the literal bare minimum of health care, than ever be cared for again at Wellspan York Hospital.
Only posting this because I keep getting messages about leaving reviews for them lol, so a review...
Read moreOct 21 morning we were referred to ER from Patient First to get chest X-ray of my 15 month old who had low oxygen and was not able to eat much! I didnât understand why we had to see so many different people once we arrived! First sat at one station my son got temp and oxygen level taken by nursing assistant near the entrance area then was send to waiting room 5 min later got pulled into triage room to get more accurate temp of my son, met Dr Collin there who was very informative and calming, explained what may be done to my son, nurse was very nice. Again went back to waiting room and was told will get called when room available. 10 min later are taken back to so called âroomâ hallway in nurses station (complete joke) with other sick people right next to us and across from us! At that point I was full of patients calmly waiting, I needed to feed my son, asked where I can go to feed him, got placed in a room, then my 15month son gets testing done in HALLWAY in front of all the patients instead of the room where I fed him 𤨠then RN Bryant D starts to educate me that my son doesnât need to be fed that often đ and tells me to leave the room cuz itâs for other patients (so apparently VIPs get the rooms and everyone else are peasants sitting in hallway) I told him heâs weak Iâll nurse him as long as he eats and he needs milk since no one is providing IV fluids to him. Bryant D walks away and I hear him say to a doctor âI already kicked her out you can go in nowâ đłđ¤¨đłđ¤¨ meaning he kicked me out of the room!!!! Shame on you Bryant for being so unprofessional YOU are NOT meant to be a nurse get out of this profession before you say more rude things that patients will hear!!! And who ever says ER is short handed is a complete lie, I observed the ER nursing station for the 4 hrs I was there with my son! So many nurses and assistant nurses just chatting enjoying their peaceful relaxing time at computer station, no one ran around, no one was short handed meanwhile hospital and ER was code BLACK! Thank you Dr Duells and Dr Patel for being kind and informative meanwhile radiologist took 2.5 hrs to read my sons chest X-ray so much for working productive and getting your job done efficiently, we cud have been discharged 2.5 hrs earlier (just two small xrays took 2.5 hrs to read) that should be embarrassing to who ever worked Thursday morning shift and made 15 month baby wait all that time, I know we arenât the only patients there but something small like that does not take hours to read! I hope management relooks at its staffing and sends those assistant nurses to the units that is more in need and not the unit where they sit around!! Everyone sat more than they walked around to...
