Let me start out by saying that the staff at Red Racks on Kansas are all so nice and personable..They go out of their way to try to help in any way possible.
I was shocked today when I was told I could use only one of the coupons purchased from Ozarks Rewards per purchase. It was so nice that in the past you could use more than one coupon at a time. I have purchased hundreds of dollars of merchandise over he last few years. Also the ability to have a balance on a certificate if not all spent for one purchase was very helpful to me. I have 2 flea market booth, and the majority of my merchandise has come from Red Racks. I currently have several $25 certificates which I purchased from Ozarks rewards. I also donate a lot of items to the store and get a 25% coupon for doing so. In the past I could use he 25% coupon in conjunction with the certificates. That no longer is possible either I was told today.
With the prices being somewhat on the expensive side, the only way I can make any money at all on purchases is to use the certificates and the 25% donation coupon. Since I always use the $25 certificates and now can't use the donation coupons at the same time, I will probably buy very few certificates from Ozarks Rewards once I use what I have on hand. I often have spent upwards of $100 at a time on purchases but will be forced to check other thrift stores that have cheaper prices in the future. I make very little money at my booths, and the only way I can even make the $149 per month booth rent is to buy at a reduced rare and just make a small amount on items sold.
I know a few people have ruined it for the rest of us by changing the amounts left on the certificates, etc. I would have thought those few people could have been dealt with individually and not penalized the rest of us who were honest and truly appreciated the ability to have a balance on the certificates. It would have appeared that a better way of showing balances left on the certificates could have been considered...Maybe a stamp with the amount left etc.
I will still shop at Red Racks from time to time, but in no way will buy the large amount of merchandise I use to do. As I said the prices are on the steep side sometimes...an example: shirts at Good Will stores are mostly $3 compared to Red Rack charging $7-10 for the same type of clothing. Plus, Goodwill usually has daily color tabs that are 25-50% off. A lot of the clothes at Red Racks are sold at 25 cents on Sunday, and I have seen people just grab all the clothes from racks that are the 25 cent color. They obviously pay no attention to size and must either be reselling or donating for a tax deduction....Just a petty gripe....and maybe I am the only one bothered by this.
My main concern is the limiting of only one $25 certificate per purchase and NOT letting one use the %25 percent donation coupons in conjunction withe the certificates. The 25% donation coupons are now not going to help me at all since I use the certificates for all my purchase. So, my donations might as well go to other thrift stores that sell items cheaper so people can afford to buy them.
I would think that donations would suffer from the actions of not allowing to use with the certificates. And those of us who spend a lot of money at RR will certainly reduce our spending or I know it will reduce my purchases.
I love the store on Kansas but am very, very disappointed at the changes told to me today. Wish I didn't have as many certificates left as I do. Just purchased some this week which I would not have done had I known about the new policy.
Again, the staff are great and overall the store is very well stocked and well run...Not sure if this decision was made locally or from corporate...whatever the case, I am very, very...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOverall I like the store although the prices are way out of line sometimes. Used items esp. furniture usually have damage but are priced at almost new prices. I have shopped at the Kansas Expressway location for some time, and have always been happy with the staff and the store, however: the last time I was in the store I tried to used my 25% donation coupon along with certificates I had purchased on Ozarks Rewards. I was told that misuse of the balance left on certificates had caused the store to make a new policy. Only one certificate can be used per purchase (which is a major issue with me as I usually like to shop for some time and fill my cart) Being able to only use one coupon and having to use its full value is very difficult at times. I was told that a few people were altering the balances left on certificates and adding ones in front of balance etc. Therefore the store decided to punish those of us who are honest and would never do that. I would think those individuals could have been dealt with personally and told that the certificate had been altered therefore it was not valid. Why punish everyone for a few dishonest people.
I have several flea market booths and have to buy items pretty reasonably in order to make just a little money. My booth rents for 3 booths is over $200 per month so I have to makes that before I made a dime. With not be able to use the donation coupon along with certificates I purchased is a major problem for me. I will have to search out other thrift stores whose prices are more reasonable and will not be making large purchases at Red Racks any more.
Plus, since I use certificate when I purchase items, the 25% donation coupons are worthless to me since I can't use them in conjunction with the certificates, I will not be donating to RR anymore...I will take my items to other thrift stores that have prices people can afford. I will also not be purchasing the certificates at Ozarks Rewards in nearly the quantity I have in the past. One of the best things the store had done was to let balances be kept on certificates. Sometime, I don't find enough items to equal the coupon value of $25 and will just lose anything above what I purchase.
I am very very disappointed in the recent changes made by the store. I definitely don't think it is encouraging large purchase, and I think you will see those purchases (many of which are over priced) will decline significantly.
Who ever made these decisions did not take into consideration customer loyalty and also vendors who made large purchases. Hope this situation can be remedied, and I think some measures could be instituted to prevent the certificates from being altered. Again, why punish all the customers for a few...

I wish the local managers had the power to reward these hard workers with some incentives to keep them at RedRacks!! ( those clothes that have overstayed their welcome & are all $1.00! This selection is .50 cents or .25 cents on Sundays!) These stores feature colored tickets on each item(or letters that represent the tag color on home decor, furniture, lamps, kitchenware & toys, shoes too) The InFamous 50 Cent Sundayās are my fav! Thereās fitting rooms and lots of variety! The quality has improved 100% and the new staff are very friendly and polite! Theyāll be slammed with a long line at the register but happily pause to show you an item/s from the locked showcase!! This store beats ALL the area thrift stores when it comes to quality, clean, unbroken costume jewelry and sterling jewelry too! Reasonably priced even on non-sale days! They give Military & 55+ discounts all week! Each week features a certain color tag 50% off and a 2nd color tag 25% off- sometimes they offer a certain color at $1.00!! JOIN THEIR REWARDS LOYALTY PROGRAM!! It pays every single visit-10-40% off regular priced items- even on sale days!! Be forewarned: Sundayās will have crowds lined up 2 hours before they open at 10am!! Itās worth getting in that line!! And invest in a foldable shopping tote- Sunday crowds snag every one of the available shopping carts FAST! The managers make it a priority to spot eBay buyers or e-commerce store owners ASAP & prevent them From cleaning out the racks of all the Sunday sale items!! Iām always able to chitchat with the friendly staff & they have a clean restroom & vending machines that sell 75 cent GOOD QUALITY soda, teas & juice-plus very reasonably priced, fresh snacks- not just candy!
