I don't get why they changed it. I went midday with an old friend and was surprised to find the 'restaurant was basically no more. Its now a more self service style. No wait staff, no menus, nothing. You have to go to the register you would check out for the buffet and cafeteria half to order then given a buzzer to go sit down in the now defunct restaurant that was absolutely deserted going into the start of dinner time. Wait for the buzzer to go off then get up exit the restaurant to get your food from the other register that is shoved in to a corner at the entrance of the 'restaurant'. Food is still good but the menu is greatly reduced the prices are okay with it being self service. I really don't get why it was changed. It was a thriving nice restaurant that now is basically empty and all the staff is new and obviously struggling with the change. The girl working the cashier where I picked my food up was nice but looked super confused when I handed her my buzzer. My guess they don't get a lot of customers anymore...if you want a quick bit to eat or order g carry out they are still a good p,ace to each but why they go sit of a thrivi g business aspect...
Read moreThe service was great, the food was 100% fresh, and it was cooked perfectly. I had the filet with baked potato and Caesar salad. The filet was so tender that you could cut it with a fork, and the flavor was perfect. The potato was hot...and they actually give you enough sour cream to cover the entire potato! The bacon bits were obviously cooked in the restaurant...they were crispy and flavorful. The Caesar salad was excellent, too...it had homemade butter garlic croutons, and a great dressing. We also had spinach dip as an appetizer, and it was really good. I honestly can't think of anything bad to say about this place...the food was very fresh and very high quality, and our server (Shelby A.) was very sweet, attentive, and timely with everything. I will absolutely go back to the Market Grill...the price wasn't expensive, but even if it was, I would still think the food and service was well worth the money. Excellent...
Read moreI've read a couple reviews , and I've noticed that a lot of them are about the grocery store SO PLEASE NOTE : IF YOU ARE ABOUT TO POST SOMETHING ABOUT HYVEE GROCERY STORE, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE, THIS IS THE MARKET GRILLE. ONE IS A GROCERY STORE, AND ONE IS A RESTAURANT. With that said, I Absolutely love this place. they have the best happy hour the best fresh food.. I don't know why anybody would give it a rating less than 5 STARS . I agree with the other person who mentioned that people must be confusing the market grille, with the grocery store.. they are two completely separate things! Hy-Vee market grille won the best wings in Springfield if that doesn't say something I don't know what does. I agree with what others have said.. THE FOOD IS FRESH , service is awesome , the bartenders are great, the beer selection is amazing, the happy hour prices...
